It's that point in the night where I need to decide whether to go to sleep now and just be a bit tired for work tomorrow, or stay up all night, call in sick and work Wednesday instead. I'm afraid it's looking like I will take the latter option... I'm not even motivated enough to sleep.

Doesn't work for me. When I'm trying to persuade my brain that going to sleep before 2 AM is a great idea and we should totally try that, it's like 'no, enjoy that barely audible radio/that ringing sound of silence at 100 dB and that fucking streetlamp that is tactically positioned directly in my line of sight when I'm lying on my left side having the intensity of a hydrogen bomb flash until I say it's time to sleep'.

On the other hand, a lecture that will be important during the examssszzzzzzz... *faceplant onto the table*.

Actually yeah. I've been without PC for two weeks now and I'm still up at 1am typing obnoxiously at you lot.
I think my posting stats have noticeably gone up though, which is a clue.
That and the constant verbal abuse I'm heaping on my poor housemate.

Ok, so I can't really blame it on withdrawal, I simply hate how he plays tabletop.
Trying to play pathfinder with this guy and rather than explaining what his character is doing, he pantomimes. He constantly runs first into rooms and goes down, and when he passes a perception check/initiates combat without us, he always alerts us to the danger by screaming incoherently. Usually loudly, always unintelligibly.
It's like, he somehow isn't able to make a comedy character, so he stretches halfway and settles with being a joke.
I give him crap for it and all it does is causes him to build up resentment against me, instead of causing him to change his behaviour.
Much more of this and I may start believing bullying isn't constructive.

That was not meant to suddenly segway into venting.
I guess point being there's always something to keep you up at night.

There's always something, yeah.

Predictably, I'm awake an hour before my alarms and have had nowhere near enough sleep. If I had spare money I could buy a can or two energy drink on my way to work and power through the day with chemicals and grit in place of a healthy amount of rest, but I am on a tight budget until after Saturday.

Looks like I'm in for another awkward phonecall to my boss, to make some lame excuse and go to work tomorrow and the day after instead. Going to work tired is always a miserable experience. Hopefully tonight I will go to bed at a decent hour... although knowing me, my lack of proper sleep patterns will lead to me going to bed at a reasonable hour and lying there awake until a couple of hours before I'm supposed to start my day.

Past experience speaking.

My family has been having their "complain about sweeping societal problems that only they can see" day. It's like The Grapes of Wrath, as written by an edgy middle-schooler with no real problems in life.

I... I'd want to read that...

Sweeping socials is a real problem. Most people don't even know how to take care of their social brooms.

I'm going to buy a social vacuum cleaner soon.

I prefer just using my social roomba.

I'm sure certain philosophers would argue that society already exists within a vacuum, thus rendering such an appliance mostly useless.

That's why it's called a vacuum cleaner, to clean the vacuum.

It just wanders around the room, doing the socializing for you?
