I can't freeze the cane toads. They get freed.
I mean, the original post was pages ago, so the meaning has kinda blurred.
I know I'm a scrub, reposting from reddit, but this made me sad today.
Don't worry about the commentary too much, this was just the only video I could find that showed the whole incident. I have a lot of respect for the professor though. I certainly wouldn't have lasted that long.
There has to be a point where this whole "muh feelings" movement becomes too silly to continue. A line that it crosses where serious issues seem as extreme and absurd as a parody. I think we should call that the Poe line.
Maybe it's the Poe event horizon?
But yeah, I honestly have no idea what the issue is. The sardonic text of the youtube video kind of pushed their opinion in my face, which I don't like.
So I ended up skipping bits.
Far as I can tell, his department released an email saying (long winded) try not to dress up as anything offensive for halloween, we don't want to make anyone feel unwelcome. To which his wife then sent out another email saying 'Are we really living in a society where you're not free to express yourself?'
A few black students then asked him to apologize for his wife's insensitivity, and he politely declined, which caused a bunch of people to have a tanty.
So I personally can't comment on who was in the right, and who were special snowflakes. Seeing as this particular issue was a racism issue, and everyone is varying levels of sensitive about that.
