I really feel like I failed her.
[...]She's convinced I'm just going to leave one day too.
[...]

I don't know. I feel like a total, complete failure.
:-\
Depression is a term which denotes that a person's inner thoughts are...mixed, though it does denote that negativity is very much present in guiding those thoughts.

Now Owlga, you are not a failure. Failure = Stop trying.
Not a failure = Did try, experienced :( , can still try again.

A thing with countering depression is consistency and continuity (dear gods did I stress everyone out in helping me when I was younger...and yet they still continued .__.)
Because it follows the notion of belief perseverance, and isolation, as overriding themes. Depression, as with most things in the mental sphere, are not 'persistent'--to relate to the biological sphere, we have diseases and we have a natural defense mechanism to face them. Abstracted notions are on a different scale due to the VASTNESS of how to face them. And there's a general cure--not termed as a 'cure', in a medical sense (because that sometimes implies a lasting disease or 'wrongness'), but sometimes a mode of thinking. Being FOR the person, and speaking out for them (as in, telling them or communicating with them; at times when things are silent, 'depression' voices its weight which brings you down, self-esteem-ish, judgemental-y or otherwise) is a cornerstone of this.

How and what a person thinks also reflects in their emotions, generally sadness if reflected onto the self or the acts coming from the self. But that's a very general poke here, and partly biased from personal experience (though it does reflect the common understanding) :/
Keep being consistent and develop mutually is what I can say. Be hope and show her her inner hope too!

Also please relay our hugs, figurative or not. Trust also is affected by assumptions or predictions, and knowing when to relax these when in good company does good for the health and the mind.

Putting this in here as the sorta update to Rozy's depression post here. It's gotten resolved it looks like. I think I can finally relax myself.

Relationship problems are hard... and it's especially harder when the people involved comprise a fairly significant portion of your closest friends group. *sigh*

Yeah, they are. I'm relieved things are over in time for me to start focusing on my exams finally. It doesn't look like I'll get a few projects done on time though. I've been incredibly stressed the past few weeks, and it doesn't look like I've got a break yet.

Is it somehow worse than intrapersonal conflict?

The problem with intrapersonal conflict is that you can't just tell annoying people to go away.
The problem with interpersonal conflict is that people, annoying or otherwise, might go away.
