Every time there's news of someone dying I feel sad about me apparently being an emotionless sociopath.

I don't think I'll be able to finish my crucial paper in time.

Pratchett's final tweets are a thing of beauty though:

Quote
AT LAST, SIR TERRY, WE MUST WALK TOGETHER.
11:06 AM - 12 Mar 2015

Terry took Death’s arm and followed him through the doors and on to the black desert under the endless night.
11:07 AM - 12 Mar 2015

The End.
11:07 AM - 12 Mar 2015

Right in the goddamn feels.  :'(

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

By 2016 all the people I have respect for will be dead, now I know why old people are so bitter.

Ask her out and see what happens?

...

Also, Pratchett.

:'(

That's screwed over any chance I had of getting stuff done today.

Bloody hell.

Huh, I was just telling my supervisor at work about Pratchett's books earlier today.  In fact, that conversation was right around the time his death was announced.  Vaguely spooky if I were that way inclined.  But I'm not, so regular sads instead.

I'm rather upset about Pratchett dying. Normally I don't give half a fuck when people die.
