I had some flashbacks to childhood abuse today.

Also sad at feelings of futility in life.

Well, maybe I'm biased because nowadays the "cool" members just seem mildly annoyed by the existence of the new members and think we're idiots.

This will seem quite harsh to those without context, but...

Are you still saying things you think will provoke a reaction? If so, seriously, stop.

My only reaction was confusion at Objective thinking they're a newbie.  Registered almost 3 years ago!

I still feel like I barely know anyone on here. :-[

I have water trapped in my ear and it kinda hurts.

Also, Tack brought back old forum nostalgia feels. I think Aqizzar is the only person who could inadvertently create a kingdom that his subjects rule for him because he couldn't be assed to rule it himself.

My phone's been off for over a week, basically.  The failing battery combined with me wanting it to be off, forever.
Making apologies to family now.  I've been in contact with actual friends through other means.  Including two friends who are family.

As a reminder, I live over 200 miles from everyone I care about because I compulsively avoid anyone who gets close.  Family included.

Oh gaia my mom is going to call soon.  The fact I love her only makes this more stressful.  Well no... it's the fact she loves me, so unconditionally, yet helpfully judges every little thing I do.

Why did I get drunk enough to turn my phone on.  I have *work* to be doing...  If I really cared I would continue being distant instead of leading people on.  Which is why two years ago I went to live as a hermit rather than keep dumping boyfriends and girlfriends for profane pleasure.  What is wrong with me.

On my way past I popped in to a family member's home only to find him making weird noises, shaking, and panicking. Kept saying "I don't know" with a raised voice. Turns out he missed his medication which I had to help him take. He kept losing focus on what he was doing so it took a while. Makes me sad to see him suffer.

The prompting him to take his medication feels wrong as I practically have to force him. I wouldn't if it wasn't for previous occasions where he had been more lucid, required little prompting, and thanked me after. Missing them two days in a row would mean hospitalization, something he has told me he wants to avoid if possible.

Cool is decided by the majority. Majority of the forum is new.
The majority of the forums has actually registered before 2012 and has less than 3 posts. So uh. Yeah.
Yep, the median member joined in 2011.
1. Obviously we're talking 'Actual participating members of the forums', not 'That alt made back in 2009'
2. New is relative to me.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

I don't think you should feel so bad about this. To be honest, I only feel like I 'know' (as in have any sort of relationship with) two people on bay12. Both of which because I know them outside of bay12. If you mean know as in being buddies with, I feel like a internet forum probably isn't the best place to get that type of relationship. It's possible, but probably going to be a pretty shallow relationship, and you shouldn't feel bad for not having it.

There was people doing that while some of the current "older" regulars were newbs.

In fact I remember a handfull of people leaving or asking to be banned because they didn't want to see all the "Anime" avatars.

Don't worry, all my griping boils down to "It's different, now it sucks", and you should pay it no mind. I'm basically an old man in a public park, shouting "Get off my lawn!"

Even I know I'm the asshole when I kvetch about how things are different from the old days. So, I guess what I'm saying is, sorry for bein' a dick. >___________>

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
