So far, a week and three days without my laptop. I may be going through withdrawal symptoms. I've been so bored I've actually done work.

I've spent the last 2 days panicking if I see anyone, so I've been hiding in my bed under the covers.

Aaaah I remember those 'bright and motivated' types. And the effort they put into assignments. Always made me feel especially dim and unmotivated when I showed up with some shitty piece of cardboard with info I'd scrawled on at the last minute, next to their all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza. :P

Edit: Aw shit, I'm getting burned at the stake now? :< This is for that crack about my mother being a witch, isn't it?
At least you'll make good marshmallows. :P

I know how you feel... it's kind of annoying, really. I hated going to the middle school awards ceremony, because you could accurately predict at least one of the recipients of every award by saying the same person's name over and over.

I used to consider myself one of them before I knocked my Wisdom score up a few notches.
This sounds very much like complaining that people who put more effort in were more successful...

The complaint is that they put effort in, not that they're successful.

I put in a ridiculous amount of effort for my calculus class, more than is necessary, mainly to spite the jerk I used to crush on and hapoen to be in that class, by being superior to him in every way.

My mom lost her job earlier today. She found out while I was gone at work, I'm still at work, I probably won't get to see her until tomorrow at the absolute earliest. I just want to be there to help out best I can but that's impossible.

Worse, she had the best-paying job in the family by a considerable margin and the best benefits. I could give my parents every cent of the roughly $30k take-home pay I made last year (before expenses) and it would barely cover half of what she was making.

I'm worried. I don't know what will happen.

(if it's personal, I understand completely if you don't want to answer)
What? How? Why? What did she do for a living?

[redacted because we're not allowed to talk about things truean has said]
silencing any voice is wrong.
Even if that specific voice is wrong.

Right wing religiois weordoes should be allowed to speak their piece and then mockingly laughed at.

Personally I hate ALL awards ceremonies. They're so goddamn boring.

like good way or bad way

because I don't know whether you mean people should or shouldn't be silenced

on a different note i'm frustrated that our church is giving a gift to a couple who had a child out of wedlock. It reeks of hypocrisy and picking-and-choosing what you want to out of the bible (i.e. we wouldn't do shit for a gay couple). The retort my brother gave was that a gay couple probably wouldn't be all that repentant about being gay (obviously), but a couple having a child out of wedlock would. But would they? Do they really even give a shit? What are we, as a church body, going to do if this couple never does get married, but we turn a blind eye to it because "hey boah least they're not gay kehheh"

tl;dr i don't like what my church is doing right now. At least my Dad agrees with me on this.

I hope she's able to find another soon. That shit sucks. It sucks really bad.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
