Got new pair of glasses for the first time in something ridiculous like...six years?

The lenses are apparently exactly the same as my old pair, but they still totally mess with my depth perception.

I think its because the pair I've been wearing are really small frames to the point where I would constantly be able to see around them, while these new ones are fuckhueg and I'm not used to having zoom on all sides at once... at least I HOPE that's the problem, because that means I'll eventually get used to it and not feel like I'm getting a headache from wearing them.

Again with the quoting..... Can you just not already, please, again?

To answer you directly would you like to see a list that said practically nothing but:

[redacted] ?

Couldn't show contents of course. See the problem is that the new BS human resources system demanding results, doesn't have a proper procedure in place for people who can't get into the nitty gritty of things. They want that nitty gritty stuff and I can't provide it so I look like a flake. I didn't do "value added" work like sales. I did research and representation. I also can't legally or "ethically" say the truth that I have "never sent anybody to prison" (except mandatory minimums required by law like drunk drivers) despite this being true and the kind of "achievement" they want listed. Why? Because it implied an ability to replicate the result, and frankly that just depends on how guilty the next prisoner is....

What almost needs to happen is the new system needs to adapt around this by .... either coming up with some sort of confidential verification system where I won't get sued, arrested or disbarred for verifying what I did, OR, they need to just realize that I did it and make exceptions for people in this bad situation. One or the other or something.... This goes for all sorts of people. How do psychiatrists prove what they did? They certainly can't show client files and even lists of them would be risky as hell if not completely forbidden. There are probably tons of professionals in this situation. Marriage counselors, government contractors, hell, more employers today are demanding confidentiality agreements they'll sue you over BS "trade secrets" and even the sandwich place "Jimmy Johns" is making their fast food workers sign this crap and non competes.... Because making a freaking sammich is a "trade secret," [look of disbelief]  ??? Is it the bread or the meat or the toppings that they think they own? I mean I'm just trying to remain above board here and am being looked at like a flake. Really?

I signed a non-compete when I was an assistant manager of a WingStop, and again when I was a line worker for Arby's. *shrugs* It happens.

Anyway, I'd be willing to give you a reference if you need, Truean. Obviously, it would be a personal/character reference instead of a professional one, but if it counts for anything I'd be happy to do so.

Can't you replace the client names with "[Redacted]" or something?

Can't you respect a person's simple request not to be quoted?

I don't see how piling on (and earlier, threatening to report a non-violation) is supposed to help anything.  Though it's a reasonable thing to request, and I hope Bohandas agrees.

I don't care. It's completely disrespectful to continue doing a thing you're specifically asked multiple times not to do.

Yeah, doing the same specific thing multiple times must be a mistake. Like I said; I don't care. I'm tired of it. It's disrespectful.

Oh, I thought Bohandas removed the quote last time, but apparently Toady intervened to.  That's kinda distressing.  I hope this all blows over.

Its a bit weird when potential contractors and clients ask for "nitty gritty" stuff when you're a lawyer and basically everything you do has an in-built confidentiality clause (usualy enforced by law, not contract, in most places at least). Most of the time, most you can do is show them the lawsuit registry which is not always public depending on its content and the parties involved, and yet there are still people who will ask for this stuff + references. As a lawyer myself I went through this as well, though I cant say I went through the same experiences since I have been practicing for only about a year and a half now.
