Yes, because we are government officials. Sure.

On the bike lanes topic: Didn't... Skyrunner was it, post an image of a fantastic bikelane on the footpath with trees planted right through the centre of it?
Yes. Skyrunner did that. She has awesome biking culture. That's part of South Korea. :P

What I'm saying is: civilian cars are unnecessary. If a country was properly run with decent, safe public transport, there would be no need for them whatsoever. I'm not saying it's likely to change in the near future, since people (especially the ones in charge of things) are stupid, but hey.

Yes, because everybody can haul all of their monthly shopping onto a tram.

I don't really see it like that, though. I mean, the only familiarity with public transport I have are city buses, and they're absolutely abhorrent here. They're either filled to over capacity or rickety and unsafe. Not exactly the best way for me to carry my groceries and kids home, eh? Aside from that, a car to me is on-demand freedom. I don't want to live my life on someone else's schedule. Yeah, I get that it could be improved, but that's still not the best or most attractive option for me.

Maybe for in the city anyway. In rural areas, or if people want to go camping, it's much more efficient for people to have their own vehicles.

NINJEDIT: and, while cars aren't necessary to get from point A to B, they are beyond compare for individual hauling needs.

Clearly the solution is to return to horse-carts and rickshaws.

Well, you don't have to clean up, feed and water cars like you do horses. Melbourne used to have that problem and it was quite a problem from what I remember reading.

Horses are too unsanitary. And a spooked horse is fucking terrifying. Blind with terror (horses don't seem to have a "mildly concerned" setting; they go straight from "everything's cool" to "we're all gonna die!"), half a ton of muscle and all the intellectual capacity of an herbivore. Trainable, yes, but not capable of making good decisions if their training doesn't cover a situation.

I dunno, maybe I'm just biased because I live with five of them.

Maybe you could write a book on Equine behavior c:
I've always been fascinated with animals (domestic or otherwise) and their behavior. Could I PM you questions on their attitude? :D

I couldn't register for the psychology course I wanted to take at my new school, so I actually need to go to and talk to the principal, or take something silly like "Calving" or "Plant Propogation"
At least the elementary school I go to now is close to my house. (I'm in online schooling, and it's based in an elementary school.)

Sydney still has some cops on horses, you"ll sometimes see them round Hyde Park where in a car you just crawl along because of traffic. They do in fact crap everywhere.
