So, sad: my sleep schedule is kaput by the number of all-nighters I've pulled this week to both recreate lost schoolwork from my dead laptop and work on new, unexpectedly assigned ones. And not only are the new assignments now late, but I slept straight through my class this morning again.

Cats are generally assholes, and I don't need any meaningful quantity of vermin removed from the premises, so I have no cats. Dogs are generally pretty cool, and even though I don't need them to herd livestock or defend the house from intruders, they tend to be personable enough to want to keep around.
