I'm just going to continue structuring sentences to avoid pronouns for anyone I don't know well enough to pronoun. It's a bit trickier if you don't know their name, but doable.
Edit: Correction, avoid using gender specific pronouns. You, They etc. still usable obviously.

I'm going to be honest here
I really don't care what someone identifies as
I'm still going to say people, guys, dudes, and the such
And that's only because the way people found where I have lived used them all interchangeably
Yes we used guys to refer to females, same with dudes. The words had a different meaning than most know them by so I honestly don't care I'm still going to use it because that's how I know to use it.

Yeah, this is basically how I think about it. Don't bother trying to accommodate everyone differently when you're already accomodating everyone identically. I have a hard enough time recalling and recognizing faces and associating them to names, trying to remember how they want to be referred to results in too much confusion.

their sanity and well-being is more important than your convenience.

So what you are trying to tell me with that article is that
If I don't instantly call someone by the proper what have you then I might as well be insulting them to the fullest degree just because I call them what I call anyone else?
It's not that I don't think of what/who they are when I speak, no no no, its that I really don't care what you are. It makes no difference to me, it doesn't change my opinion of people and I don't see why grabs people should be treated differently than normal people unless they do want to be made seperate from everyone and be treated like they aren't people.
I say what I say because a person is a person. Gender doesn't really matter in the way I treat people.
They are all equal

Here's a really good quote from the article.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Misgendering is hate speech, regardless of how much easier it is for you to deal with.

edit: it's like you are so busy wanting to defend your actions and what is important to you in this, you ignored the intent of the article and the effects your actions have on OTHERS. Your feelings in this are not relevant.

Instead of using pronouns, we should all refer to people as Blaarg, of the planet Earth

So treating them the same as I treat any other human being is hateful?

Instead of using pronouns

I'm sorry but we can't call them pronouns now. That is both hateful to professionals and verbs. The correct term is wordpersons

But that's what Blaarg, of the planet Earth suggested...

So treating them the same as I treat any other human being is hateful?

treating them the same might have a different effect due to their personal experiences. Are you the same as everyone else? Have your experiences never differed? Are there not things that severely disturb you that is not true for other people?

Multiply that by 100 and you have the problem with misgendering.

I don't understand why this is hard to grasp.

Frankly, mocking it, and making jokes about it, it reprehensible.

The things that happen to trasngendered people, including this, are not funny at all. Laughing about them doesn't make you edgy or cool.

I may not be the OP. But in an attempt at being a voice of sanity, I'm going to point out that this conversation is likely on it's way to a lock/purge. Perhaps we should just go back to being sad about things now?

In sorry but yes it's hard for me to grasp why someone that has been treated as different their whole life and be rejected by everyone wouldn't be ok with being treated like a normal person.

Maybe it's how the people around here deal with it, because it's not really problem here because we don't treat them different than other people.

And yes I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around not treating a person like a person.
Sorry

I think you are being obtuse. You have no idea if it's a problem for the people around you.

Most transgendered people consider misgenderign a hate crime, it is erasure. It shouldn't have to be explained anymore than that. It deeply deeply hurts trans people. That should be enough encouragement not to do it.

I'm just going to stop speaking about it because apparently what people around where I live are ok with is terrible and incorrect and wrong
