Never mind. I feel I'm being overly dramatic.

I just learned recently that my Stepmother is coming to grips with alcoholism, and it's been degrading her and my dad's relationship to the point that they may divorce soon...

So I went to the beach today, and I am le bacon. The sad part is, my summer job is lifeguarding. I should be better than this.

I've finally dipped into Dark Souls II, and I'm really liking it. It's alot easier/faster to use Soapstones and get summoned. The communal aspect is what I love most so I like that.

I had to do an obligatory wiki dive in order to glean enlightenment on the under-the-hood mechanics that govern multiplayer interactions, and I was REALLY surprised that your ability to connect to other players is determined not by Level like it was in DS1, but rather by the total number of souls you've collected. All souls period. It's just the craziest thing I'd never think of.

This is a really bummer though, because for a PvE co-op loving man like myself, that means I can't hunker down at a soul level I like and assist people at hard bosses all day just for fun. No, what this spells out for me is *Forced Progression* because so long as I'm earning souls, even if I never use them, I'm eventually gonna get pushed outta the co-op range of everyone at that particular part of the story, and I'll be forced to migrate to the next area.

I just hate that my fun low-level builds are so harshly neutered now.

I'll still play, but that's sitting in the back of my head now.

Firefox shilling you for cash?

From what I've read, every time you start firefox now there is a chance it will randomly direct you to a page where they are begging for money.

The default firefox start page has a giant "Donate Now" button with the following text:

Hello there: We know you love Firefox, but did you know a non-profit called Mozilla built Firefox? Thanks to donations, Mozilla does a lot more than build this awesome browser. We teach people to code, fight for online privacy, and protect this amazing thing called the Web for future generations. Just a few times a year Mozilla asks for donations, and tens of thousands of people all over the world give. If they didn't, we couldn't do all this good stuff. If everyone reading this chipped in just a few dollars we could wrap this fundraiser up in under an hour. You can make a donation here. Thank you.

I don't get that on my Firefox... but then I am not really letting it use default start pages.

Got home late last night, could barely sleep on account of continuous nightmares, and now I seem to be coming down with a cold :(

Minor sads, but sads nonetheless.

Woo. Back on prescriptions. At least they got the dosage right this time.

My mom asked the worker at the drug store for a generic brand instead of what the doctor prescribed. A lot cheaper, but I'm not sure of the differences between the drugs.

The side-effect list is either contradictory or barely explained.

Generics are legally required to be exactly the same as name brand drugs, so no worries there. Also, side effects actually can be apparently contradictory (for instance, one drug might cause weight loss or weight gain in different people), which is awfully shitty but unfortunately the world we have to live in. It is pretty shitty if they're skimping on actually explaining what's up. I hope you don't suffer too many

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
