Oh damn I loved those teenage sitcoms as a kid.

I mean, they're really bad, but that's why they're so good :P

My daughter enjoys the show, and I have to say, it's pretty clever. And anything that gets Dora off the TV is a good thing!
How old is your daughter? Dora seems like it'd be talking down to anyone above the age of 4 or 5.

I wish my nieces ( 9 and 8 ) watched MLP rather than all the disney channel "teenage sitcom for teenagers with teenage troubles" crap they subsist on. Imagine Hannah Montanna but slightly different. I could feel my brain cells committing suicide one by one by being passively in the same room as the show. And this was shows marketed at teens. Maybe pre-teens. Whatever, 'twas bad.
Oh god, that absolute bullcrap? That channel drained all my respect for post-90s Disney.

I think you fail to realize this new stuff is written by people with a fetish for terrible music.

I grew up watching almost nothing but Lizzie McGuire and Olsen Twin movies.

I have a high tolerance for bad.

*pops in to end the spread of misinformation*

Just placing a quick reminder regarding some recent comments pointing out that MLP discussion is not banned in its entirely nor was banned for being considered volatile, and that we're simply not allowed to make general discussion topics about it. Because those topics kept going completely off topic into subjects that violated the forum guidelines.

IIRC the reason those topics are verboten is because they descended into weird porn every time, right?

She's 5. Honestly, she grew out of Dora about a year ago, but still watches it now and again... her and my wife have been watching Full House (now on netflix) together though. Man, that show has some pretty good writing, some terrible jokes, and some honestly tearful moments.

Actually I forget what the first strike was, but the second was caused by someone linking a wiki page about a non pony related meme which turned out to have a nsfw image on it that the poster missed due to it being small sized unless clicked on. The last strike was an off topic discussion about finding a better way to tag fanfiction so people could avoid rape fics that wound up going on far longer than necessary

Full House benefited a lot in the early seasons from not having wives. That was the era when sitcoms really started that whole "women are always right, and men are drooling idiots that would cut themselves on a butterknife and die without help" bullshit (to be fair, they DID need to move away from the old "Father Knows Best" standard, but they went much too far in the opposite direction), and having the main adults being exclusively single men at the start gave them the chance to develop as characters, although looking back at it Joey was kind of creepy.

I'm still at a loss as to how that show gained its periphery demographic.

I'm part of that(though you wouldn't know because oh god i haven't even breached season 4 :c).

I don't know why I got interested in it to be honest.

Sister or something was watching it, I say multicolored horses. Aaaand then I forget what happened. I didn't even know it was a thing until 2012 ish soooo... :P
