Yeees. Cap'n Kaladin travels the world stopping insane psychopaths from taking over the world. Should be pretty good.
Bay12 has loads of insane psychopaths with plans to take over the world, too, so it's not like you're going to run out of content.

I'd use Poirot as a baseline, and just build it up from there.

He clicked his fingers "Of course! The only man or woman this side of the galaxy with skills like that."
"Who, sir?"
The man drew himself to his full hight, and suddenly spun around to point an accusing finger at his young protege.
"The only person to ever be able to go by, under my nose all this time..."
"Sir, I assure you...
"The master of sleight of hand and distraction techniques..."
"Sir, please
"Not you boy, behind you."
As the young man turns around, he comes to face a old man with a long beard, gnarled staff and sly face.
"The Orange Magican!"

The man slowly looks up from the spreading crimson on the floor, seeing the monster in front of him.
"Knew I would find you eventually."
"And so you have, what now, are you going to take me in?"
A soft laugh, "No, nothing like that."
The man gets up from his knees, and sticks out his hand.
"I want to be your partner."
The shadowy figure looks down upon the mans hand. "I don't see the reasoning behind this, detective."
"Does there need to be? I don't find reason for your actions."
"Touché, touché..."
The shadowy figure doesn't respond for a long time, then finally replies:
"Very well then, partner."
The man smiles, opens the apartment door and leaves, his Duster Coat flowing in the wind of the cold night.

Obvious suspect who turns out to be a setup later, considered suspicious due to excess of skulls in apartment.
