We never did work out what sort of floor material was involved though...

Lava. Burning hot lava.
And its not just the floor. The room in which the light switch is in is filled with it.

And someone decided to put the light switch on the other side of the room.

Plus, I bet there's carp. Really, the mother is an evil woman for subjecting her son to such a life threatening situation.

Fucking carp dude, damn.

This is why I make my mother fill out a work order/requisition form whenever she wants me to do something. That way, I can fully analyze the situation to determine whether or not it is worth my time or consideration.

I, however, am a much better SCP.  I'm clever and funny while also maintaining that creepy feel.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I've included a picture so we can further evaluate this predicament with a picture.

What if you are in the midst of a deadly battle with a save in I Wanna be the Guy?

Say "I Wanna Be The Guy" out loud. She will understand.

I beat those screens.

I'd beat them all again.

What if, for some reason, you instead wanted to be The Kid? What's so great about being The Guy anyway?

And unless you can provide some real solid evidence to the contrary, this whole affair just seems selfish.

He was playing a DotA-like game, which are notorious for people who will hulk out on you if you do anything wrong.  Leaving the computer for five seconds is something wrong.

Still selfish though.

If I said anything to my parents sounding like "Do it yourself, I just got a m-m-m-monster kill" I would be dead right now.

This is funny.

Ouch, I have fewer allies in this discuss than I'd hoped.  But yay, two pages of discussion pointing out that I was being selfish  :D

I vote that I was completely justified (of course).  As far as I could figure out, she was standing probably five feet away from the light switch in question.  In order for me to turn the light out, she'd actually have to get out of the way.  And in the time it would have taken me to get over there, she could have turned it out herself.  The thing she was carrying must not have been heavy or cumbersome at all, otherwise, she would have told me to fetch it for her.  I get annoyed when people ask me to perform an easy task they can do themselves when I'm doing something that requires constant attention, even if I'm just playing a game.  I also get annoyed when people ask me to do an easy task that I could do myself without any help.  She's pulled a few stunts like this before too.  A long while back, she asked me to get her a pen (she, dad, and I were all the kitchen), despite the fact that dad was standing right next to the pen drawer, and I was on the opposite side of the kitchen.  Dad simply gave her a look and got a pen from the drawer.  She has also asked me to get her the remote when all she had to do was sit up to get it.  I've been convinced for a long time that she instinctively finds asinine tasks for me to do when I'm playing games, as if she thinks that virtually any time I spend entertaining myself is better spent getting her stuff from the pantry.

Such schemes are not beyond the ken of moms, but I'm still siding against you due to your better-two-years-late-than-never avatar.
