Well, alcohol tastes terrible, and I've never been drunk. But, presumably I wouldn't like it. There are other ways to relieve stress, anyway. Mine happens to be writing or listening to music. Do what suits.

All generalisations on a huge scale.

There are so many kinds of drink, both in mixes, cocktails, and straight, that it seems very odd to me to generalise such a huge subject. Probably best not to deal with problems via the sauce, though.

Very well, GiglyD, all alcohol that I've tried has been awful.
But there are most certainly not bad foods, and not bad people.
There are some pretty awesome foods, and some pretty awesome people out there, as long as you don't confuse one for the other.
Potatoes are awful at holding conversations.
At least the ones I've talked to are.

... I'unno, just going by the smell I'd think any drink with alcohol in it would taste notably better if you took the alcohol out. I'd say "alcohol tastes terrible" is actually a fairly objective statement -- it's just possible to offset it enough the overall drink isn't (as) foul.

The smell of wine makes me think of vomit. Probably because that's the form I've most encountered it in in the past.

Alcohol tastes terrible, for me. Alcohol on its own, no doubt, wouldn't taste nice, and alcohol mixed with other stuff still tastes bad. Same for all types I've tried. In fact, they all taste remarkably similar to me. All have the same background taste that I don't like, only in differing degrees of strength. So, I don't like it, it costs money, and it isn't necessary. As Mastahcheese feels the same, he is entirely justified in not trying "White Russian."

Yeah, I only just recently got over my decade long fear of alcohol, so I'm not trying anything too strong or foul. Just sayin'.

Love the booze, but I think its a bit of an acquired taste.  I think most people don't like it when they first try it.

Wine is gross though, and red wine gives me a migrain from even a little.

You ought to come down my way some time. LA/OC has micro-breweries everywhere. I'm unable to stand alcohol in any amount but my folks are enthusiasts for quality beverages. From them I know you can find just about any kind of drink in good quality around here, though not always quantity. Mead and cider seem especially common.
