Well, dacha is a very interesting concept. It's originally meant a small soviet wooden countryside house that had no heating and thus was uninhabitable in the winter, but in the summer it and the piece of land that came with it was the only private property you were allowed to have during socialism. Since you could do whatever you wanted with the land, most people chose to grow fruits and vegetables, and since they did it with so much passion, the products were of a much better quality than what you could find in shops. So dacha is basically a small farm you own and visit in summer.

Nowadays dachas can be of any shape and form, from the masive baroque tower our neighbour has (the locals call it "Dmitri's dick", because it is) to what my dad built after my mom had finally nagged him enough - three very big and fancy wooden cabins with pretty much everything except wifi.

Yeah, PTSD was something almost everyone in the place where I once worked at had. Mostly from war, but some was from the general senseless violnce that drowned the streets of our cities during the nineties and some from, well, sexual abuse and rape.

Vector, you are always welcome on my dacha, too.

Actually, I think I might have some pictures somewhere.

EDIT: Goddamn doublepost!

Yeah AlleeCat, my PM is open. I can't offer you much more than that and my hope that it really does get better for you. You've been dealt a shitty hand and I hope that it starts looking up for you.

We really do care about your well-being. I hope something good comes your way.

In fact, just talking to people helps. It's like natural immunity against mental diseases.

also, here's a picture of the view from my dacha.

Wow I just kind of want to visit that place. I bet it's wonderful in the summer.

And Bay12 will always be with you, no matter who or where you are. I know neither your names nor faces, but if a guy or a girl comes up to me and says "I'm from Bay12 and I have nowhere to go", then, well, did you know that my dacha can house 24 people in separate rooms and has a fully-functional finnish bunker just in case things get really nasty?
My house and word are open to anyone who asks for help, too.

...That is one beautiful [view from your] dacha.

Also sads: Argh Finals. x_x

Edit: More related sad.

I've never experienced snow in my life. Is it as beautiful and as terrifying as it really seems to be from the news and Tv?
I'd once like to experience a snowday and know the sense of fluffy, crunchy, hard, slippery, wet, dry and crumbly snow.
Snow seems beautiful. Especially snowflakes.

Also..is snow, erm, as cold as ice? As in, if Ice is the solid form of water (frozen) then...snow is..?

So...Knit tie has more dakka?

Tiruin, snow is just tiny ice crystals. Frozen water vapor. It's cold, but only beautiful if it's pristine, and a pain in the ass to drive in. If you have a freezer, scrape the stuff off the side on the inside. That's snow.

Come visit. We have plenty, and tomorrow may be a snow day. Well, ice day. It rained today, and will probably freeze over tonight.

Sad: need a new job. The one I have sucks. So sick of retail. I'm way overqualified for the bullshit I put up with.

Snow is totally the most awesome thing the first time you see it, and then you'll hate it forever.
At least I do.

...Also, I just want to say that you're a very kind person.

Snow is basically individual bits of shaved ice, is a good way to think about it (if you have shaved ice). It's just ice that's formed on a nucleus of dust in the cloud. Like a raindrop but with more geometry and drier-until-it-melts abilities.

Snow is beautiful when it's fresh and undisturbed. Then it's magnificently cruncy and fluffy and covers all imperfections with its ivory blanket. But anyone who lives in it would gladly offer his soul to never have to deal with it again, trust me. It's cold, colder than ice and wet, and there is always too much of it. And when it melts and mixes with dirt, it forms dirty unbreakable walls and rivers of grit that cover everything with ugly ochre dust when they dry.

Here's some more winter Russia.

Deliberately mispronouncing "dacha" for reference/ comedic purposes. Carry on, nothing to see here.

Not everyone.  I still like snow.

Me thinks its an in-joke with the pronunciation (err, non-Russian speakers I believe? That means me and everyone else who isn't speaking russian) with dacha.
Basic note; it's not an insulting thing. Orks are by far, the funniest...killers you'll ever see in W40k
Also they're quite silly.
ELDAR FOREVER!
*ahem*

...
Thanks guys for that notes on snow. I will dream and imagine and draw all those ideas on this fluffy white wonder that graces your lands, with both tempest and till following its wake.

...Now I'm quite wondering if we could use snow in many of our sweet-ice treats here. xD

Sad: I'm getting to know more about the human nature each day! It's not a sad-sad but more of an 'I'm getting to know this and some of my preconceptions are being changed-not shattered, but they're adapting. Hmm' way.
