Hi, I was, until very recently, very much so a part of the American legal system, and I had very close dealings with police officers during that time, and I can tell you that police officers are people. Some are fucking assholes. Some are very good people, brave, honest, and just, who just want to do the right thing. Some police officers are scum, looking to suck the life out of society. And some cops are fucking paladins. Most of them are inbetween, just like any other human. Can we please not have this discussion again?

Oh yes, let's please restart the same three-page circlejerk you people just had. Because once a week just isn't enough.
Which circlejerk with who?

Because I'm bad at noticing patterns in things longer than a couple of hours, unless they go on for a long time.
The one about the police in this very thread. I was asleep for most of it, but it was just yesterday.

It's annoyingly one of the few Pratchett books my wife has read, and one of the few I have not.

I have not read ANY Discworld books yet, and it makes me dreadfully ashamed of myself as a human being. :P

I recommend you begin immediately then.

Ram raid a book shop if you must!

Also anything with Pratchett involved is gold. He's like fiction-Midas.

*You're

This is what lack of Pratchett does to people.

"Give a man a match and he's warm for a minute. Light him on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life"
"If you allow the nose of a camel into your tent, soon you shall have a camel inside of your tent"
"There's a difference between "Good" and "Nice". Just because someone is 'Good' or 'Right', doesn't mean they are 'Nice'."

(Also, fair warning, the language in his first few books is VERY English-professor.)

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

Could also argue that reading to much Pratchett leads someone to should/could/would of, which is infuriating.

But I feel we can forgive him that.

It helps that he borrows the plots of other famous books from time to time.

Ah, but humanity is heading toward a peak of originality, beyond which everything created is just a rehash of something else. /excuses

At least Pratchett does it with some flair.

So, we had a conversation about my having been raped (last time my parents just said nothing), and this time they asked me what I was wearing and so on.

NOTE: trigger warning for rape things

It was "if I had been making out with him, then his pushing my hips down repeatedly when I tried to move, and ignoring my sounds of pain when he then stuck his finger in should not be seen as rape."

you can't blame young men for getting "too enthusiastic"

i mean i was naked right
