It's permanent. Not my call, but it is.

Damn, that sucks. Pity too, since excepting for the last page or two everything was pretty chill.

I wouldn't put anything into the stock market until after this bubble bursts. There's no way this much growth isn't artificial (or a straight up lie), with the current and ongoing political-economic turmoil.

There's gonna be a huge drop very soon. And I mean huge. Likely apocalyptic. I don't know exactly when it will happen, because there is no transparency and several dozen layers of bureaucracy to hide most of the details. However, I'd wager within the next couple of years, the stock market will lose most of it's value. Better stock up on potassium iodide.

This is all in my completely unprofessional opinion.
You seem to have a misconception: The stockmarket isn't a indicator of the health of the economy. It's a indicator of the profit of corporations.
While many companies were hit quite hard during the initial recession, they recovered quite well.
Since then they have maintained the same level of productivity (thanks to automation), but with significantly fewer employes. If you lose 20% of your total income but you manage to cut your costs by 20%, you are still doing fine (even though those 20% of your workers are screwed).

So yeah, while the recession hasn't been exactly roses and sunshine for corporations, it hasn't been nearly as bad on them as it has been on everyone and everything else.

EDIT: That isn't to say that the stock market won't crash in the next few years, but if it does it will be due to the same type of things that happened last time (eg. companies engaging in highly immoral and risky trading that can crash the economy), not because there is a bubble or because of a systemic problem.

Oh fuck the pain, the pain!
Had to get something cut out yesterday, lots of local anaesthetic involved, four stitches, pretty standard stuff. Woke up this morning with blood coming out from under the dressing and a world of hurt... I think maybe one of the stitches came out? Might have to go to hospital... I understand that there would be pain involved once the anaesthetic wore off, but enough blood that it is leaking through all those bandages is a worry.

It's a study on whether you can play a video game using only a penis.

The only possible explanation.
That assumes that all women don't have penises, (untrue, as I am a woman with a penis) and that all men do. (also untrue, as my roommate is a man without a penis)

Yeah, you should go to the hospital and talk to a doctor. O.o

I was invited to a paid market research study on gamers.

Turns out it was male-only.
Another thing: I can get behind researching certain demographics, but if the study was just about "gamers" there is no legitimate reason anyone could ever come up with to justify excluding anyone.

She said male, not men. >_>

I was under the impressions male was used to refer to sex, and man was used to refer to gender. >_>

I've taken the bandages off and the stitches are all still intact, with only a small, manageable amount of bleeding. Might have just been me moving in my sleep... Well I'll put on a swab of dettol, new bandages, and I'll see how it goes.

Only TRUE honey never spoils! (Or has such an extended shelf life that it can generally not be considered to spoil)

Goddamn it. Why is the last thing which appears on the Now locked Transhumanism thread AGAIN someone asserting some completely off-topic arguments?

Read back a bit and you can tell the person in question has been trolled into the flamewar, but seriously. You have a religion. Congratulations. Go find a thread for it.
Sick of threads being derailed and tanked because of one person.

Yep. Honey's a dessicant, and both bacteria and fungi need moisture to survive, so it shouldn't spoil in ages.

We are doomed. It's just that whatever is going to kill us all just happens to be, from a scientific standpoint, pretty frickin' awesome.

Honey just sort of crystallizes and turns solid but you can still dissolve it in stuff, and it tastes the same. Plus, sometimes you can use it as a burn ointment.

Neither are completely true. It's really hit and miss how trans people refer to their biological sex. Some say (fe)male-bodied, some say biologically (fe)male, some just say (fe)male, some hate talking about their biological gender altogether. There's still really no accepted term to distinguish between social and biological gender, even in the scientific community AFAIK.
Really, what distinguishes the genders biologically, anyway? Where do you draw the line at who is and isn't born a woman? Women are born with Y chromosomes, women are born without ovaries or uteri, sometimes even with no vagina whatsoever. Meanwhile, men are born with uteri, or no testicles. A male-to-female friend of mine was born with a uterus and no Adam's apple, and yet was assigned male at birth. Where do we draw the line?
