Must be the way I was raised, but if my kid came up and told me that, I would be hunting down the responsible party and mounting their head on a spear in my yard.

Vector, I cannot fathom how that must feel. I'm not sure if there's anything I could say that could make you feel better, but I really wish there was.

I would... speak harshly to them. Maybe advocate for their restraint until they are reasonably considered to no longer be a threat to anyone.

Vengeance is bad, m'kay? Preventing these people from repeat offenses should be the main goal, not a side effect.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

You imply that when people are angry, they think rationally, Kaijyuu.

Unfortunately, angry people are generally NOT rational, and don't tend to respond to rational arguments.
Eh, I know a few people who act and think more calmly the angrier they get. Reptillian calm though, as opposed to Morgan Freeman calm.

Oh, but see, that's anger there, not rage, which is the 'BLOOD GUTS RIP TEAR' attitude.

As mentioned, rage and gut ripping is all fine and dandy. But real damage comes from what order mentioned, the lurking beast of rage, the one capable of planning before doing damage.

Last Sunday I told my mom I was raped.  She said "Well, what a worse-than-cad," and nothing else.  She tried to convince me today that a lot of the problem with college women being raped (the population in the country most likely to be raped) is that they go to parties with that goal in mind.  Of being drugged and raped.

I'm done.

Thats... thats atrocious.

I'd prefer to not share the specifics, as it was equally nonsensical and personal, but I dreamt last night that I was manipulated into killing someone who loved me and whom I loved by a member of my family.
I have had felt feelings of guilt, regret, and loneliness all day, but I finally figured out what happened in the dream, and therefore why I was feeling them, on the busride home.

This. My mom has her (numerous) flaws, but if someone touched my sister she'd hunt him down and rip his testicles off with her teeth. She actually said that, although more descriptively.

I am at a loss.
I'm not. I hate to say it, but I've heard of worse. Not by much mind, but it's out there. In any case, you have my sympathies. I wish you well, and hopefully not have to speak with your mother too much.

What the hell? Vector, does she usually pull stuff like this?

Must be the way I was raised, but if my kid came up and told me that, I would be hunting down the responsible party and mounting their head on a spear in my yard.
With me, their relatives would have to bury an empty coffin. There's some stuff you just don't do.
