And I'm glad I could make you feel a bit better about it, Hanslanda. The game's going really fun with HFS in command, and I really enjoyed reading the parts where you were running it.
I had a whole arc planned out! I had no actual notes, but I had a campaign outlined in my mind. See, you would have gotten done with the current battle, and the Arbites probably would have arrested the lot of you. The Inquisitor would have arrived and bailed you out of jail. No, he wasn't the Blank that you met first. He would have revealed he needed you to cover for him, and he figured throwing you into the known Arbites safehouse that the bad guys had bugged would cause a fantastic distraction. He had followed the leader guys, and you needed to storm a warehouse in the shitty section of town.
You storm the warehouse, have a rousing gun battle with a bunch of Generic Mooks
tm and six well armored, organized, intelligent bodyguards and their leader-bro, who is a total pussy and surrenders immediately. This is where you get the armor and such I promised, and the leader reveals that the whole thing wasn't heresy or alien action or anything. It was just a bunch of people pissed over taxes and tithes. You stopped a rebellion. Good job.
Now he sends you off to deal with another 'cult', in a system not far from here. You get there, do your investigation thing, and notice lots of Wierd
tm stuff going on. People are venerating the 'Emperor' in a very strange way. Everyone seems to be behaving oddly. Eventually, you get to the root of it, and travel deep into the sewers of the hive city to observe a secret ritual of the high priests of the local Ecclesiarchy. They are venerating a huge, robed man. One of them spots you, or you decide to kill them all, and the robed man is revealed to be...
A motherfucking Genestealer Broodlord. Just one Genestealer on the whole planet. But he just saw you, and he is absolutely determined to wreck your faces. You either flee or fight, whichever floats the collective boat. The fight/chase is going hilariously poorly for you, because a goddamn Broodlord, when the Inquisitor teleports in with a group of four Deathwatch Marines, and between the lot of you, you kill the Broodlord and begin the planetary purge. In a moment of reprieve, the Inquisitor tells you quite delightedly that you were, once more, bait leading him to the big threat to be eliminated.
I hadn't planned out the next part just yet, but I had intended for you to totally save the Inquisitor's ass in the next mission, because I can't let you feel like bait on EVERY mission, right?
