If you have a town big enough for all of those things, you have a town that's big enough for lots of other things, like bowling alleys and restaurants, and dojos, and golf courses, and what-have-you. There's lots of places to meet people that you're overlooking.

A friend has invited me to go out and have a drink with him. Another friend, who hasn't been invited, knows we plan to do this and is strongly hinting on coming along and having a drink. The problem is that he can't handle his alcohol and is awful when drunk. He knows this and has apologised during and afterwards multiple times. The last time we said he could come if he stayed sober and he got upset with us and didn't show up. I didn't and don't feel comfortable stopping him from drinking like this as it's his choice, but I don't want to be around him drunk.

My brother's group of friends had a similar problem with one of their number always getting violent when drunk. They used to just go out without telling him. Sometimes he'd phone / turn up looking for everyone and I couldn't help feeling sorry for him. I don't want to leave my friend out in the same way. I don't seem to be able to not upset him. Awkward situation all round.

Just caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror. Maybe its just because I've had a long day with barely 100 miles to show for it, but with my glasses, stress lines, messy fading hair and thin beard, I look like someone's grandpa. I often feel like someone's grandpa.

I'm not even 25 yet. Damn.
