Reading more stuff on "Why videogames are evil if you are Christian"

WHAT THE HECK IS WITH CERTAIN CHRISTIANS and this believe that anything that doesn't align perfectly with the Bible world view is evil?

It is painful to read this... so painful.

I just see ignorance and intolerance every single time. I see why the world can never find peace, I see why racism exists, I see why people do terrible things to others. Every time I see this, I know why things will always be terrible... and No it isn't because religion but because of people's utter refusal to try to understand things.
To put it bluntly, a lot of that stuff started out as satirical pranks or outright antitheistic hoaxes, then got forwarded around by gullible grannies through chain E-mails to the point where nobody realizes that they weren't intended as a serious Christian argument in the first place. I haven't seen a genuine (as in, written by Christians to warn Christians) article or book of that sort in over ten years. (Okay, I've seen the books more recently, but they were 15-20 years old).

Man, feeling lonely again. I mean, I guess I'm getting better, I dated two girls so far this year, though nothing came out of either. I'm just bummed that it was like a little dream of mine to have a girlfriend to watch the Fourth's Fireworks with, but I still feel I haven't made any progress. Fuck, I feel more hopeless than ever. I'm not sure what to do.

Eh. I haven't had a legitimate date in over eight years now. I'm in my 20's. It'll happen eventually.

I'm 26 and the closest I've ever gotten to a girl barely counts as even a fling.

You're still young, so work on that upper body strength so you can give the next one a good toss.

Got a very crazy virus on my laptop. Basically it is ransomware. it wants me to give $300 over to unlock my computer within 48 hours (and somehow has a countdown timer of 1 hour. What's even worse is that it accuses you of watching illegal things like file sharing, kid porn and all sorts of other bad crap. It also tries to take a picture of you with your webcam and says you might have criminal charges pressed against you, but that doesn't make sense at all. If you're watching that kind of illegal stuff, they don't just let you go for $300. I'm pretty sure that's a felony.

To unlock your computer and to avoid other legal consequences you are obligated to pay a release fee of $300 USD.
An attempt to unlock this computer by yourself will lead to the full formatting of the operating system. All the files, videos, photos, documents on your computer will be deleted.

It's trying to ransom my laptop back to me.

Weirdest thing, this happened right when I was playing Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO) and just when I got to level 65. I've been trying to get there for a couple years so it was kind of a huge thing for me. The whole virus thing DID NOT lock out my game of LOTRO, so I just kept right on playing for a little bit! Had no idea this had happened until I alt tabbed out to look up something on the game's LOTRO site and I see that messed up screen. It did not block the game of LOTRO I was playing.... ??? It's 5 PM on a Friday so it isn't like I can take it anywhere to get it fixed either, and when I do take it somewhere to get it fixed, whoever works on this thing is gonna see that screen (which is intentionally designed to embarrass/ransom money out of you). WTF?

I can ctrl alt delete to shut it down and stuff, but that's about all. It's difficult to start it up in safe mode even, by which i mean, I haven't gotten it to do that yet. :(

That'll teach me to reach level 65.

I doubt it can actually do what it says it will do.

If you want to remove it yourself, I'd try finding it's file location through task manger, killing the task, killing its registry files, then deleting the actual program. Be careful not to delete the wrong registry files, though.

One: i trust bleepingcomputer over any antimalware site cause they are the creators of the holy Combofix.

This guide should help cause this particular one infects your boot cycle.

It sucks you were playing a game at the time.

The vast majority of really bad viruses today just download the rest of the virus.

I saved my laptop over three times simply turning off the internet and effectively neutering the virus.

I remember once seeing anti-malware software you can burn to a boot disk. Ask a friend to burn you a disk, and boot from that, it should clean up your computer in no time.

Well given he was using quotes WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY out of context I guess that makes sense... and the fact that once I asked him to unpack his arguments he stopped posting... AND the fact that he was banned an hour later.

Well, right now I'm trying to run system restore. Hopefully that'll work out. Thank you guys so much for helping. I'm not the most computer savvy person in the world.

Edit: YES! I can run safe mode! :D O awesome, at least there's that for now.

Is there anything else I should know?

Kind of depressed. I suspect the prospect of not having to work for the next 5 days is (paradoxically) the cause, given my lack of plans and general loneliness.

I ought to get into a book or game, but I'm not in the mood even for that :/
