I did not enjoy The Amazing Spiderman.  Everyone seems to love it, but for me I felt like it wasn't very coherent, and was full of plot holes.  And the villain was boring.  I actually sincerely doubt that I'll see any other parts of the series, unless the entire internet suddenly starts nerdgasming over their majesty.

It's just backlash against the first three Spiderman movies.  The best I can figure out is that the first Spiderman was too serious.  He didn't drop constant humor quips like in the comics.  Then they did the "emo" scene in the third movie and everyone lost their shit.  New Spiderman does one-liners, therefore everyone must gush all over it as just another way of expressing their hatred for the old one.  I agree that it's more faithful to the flavor of the comic book character, but it's also quite the nitpick to get all up in arms over, in my opinion.

This woman has people who agree with her. I want to like society, but when it forms large enough groups who follow people like that; I'm not sure I can.

That's true, I do feel like new Spiderman somehow feels more like comics-Spidey, but... comics-Spidey doesn't have all that much emotional range >_>  I liked the first three way better.  Hurmph.

I'm just letting off steam, don't mind me.

Odd. How does he know who shows up anyway? And can't you just watch the video online later on if the weather is bad (or the time is early :v)...

The only lecture I need to show up for is the one for which I supposedly get a certificate to work with genetically modified critters. Other than that profs don't care. Or rather, they can't care as there are ~200 students and they can't know everyone.

Genetically modified critters?  What's your major?  I'm kind of interested in that stuff but I'm not completely sure if I want to go into it myself, so I'd love to hear what you think of it.

I agree.  I like the tone of the movies, doing away with some of the camp.  I think they should give a nod to it once in a while, but other than that I approve.  Comic book fans seem to want the full campiness of the original stories, though.

I liked the first Spidey movie, hated the second, didn't bother with the third, and likely won't bother with the latest one.

First one was fun and had a good villain while competently establishing Spidey's character. Second one had a pitiful love plot, a boring villain, and unchanging characters (well, unchanging past the first 30 minutes or so).

They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

The 2nd one was actually my favorite.  Don't think I've met anyone who shares that opinion.  I thought it had the most creative and intense choreography, did the best job portraying Spidey pushed to his limits physically and emotionally, and I liked how they developed his relationship with the community.

I liked the 3rd one too, honestly.  I thought its biggest problem was pacing.  It meandered too much on unimportant scenes for a movie that was trying to juggle a plot with several villains and converging plotlines.  Other than that, I don't understand the hatred for it, other than "OMG Spiderman is emo!"

Neither of them are anything deep.  They're mainstream family-friendly stuff, so I don't expect anything profound from the story or non-stereotypical characters.

I left my kitten at my mother's house today. Found out an hour ago that she accidentally killed him. Apparently he jumped into the washing machine, and she didn't notice he was in there somehow and started up a load of laundry. He was in there for an hour before she opened it, and found him dead. This is seriously fucked up.

That's horrible. I'd probably never be able to completely forgive my mother if she did something like that, even though it wouldn't really be her fault.
