What I'm saying is that what I understand to be the essence of me, this solid person with a lot of good qualities, the person I am to fully become, only occasionally shines through right now.  As I become more and more me-like, more and more people want to go out with me, and I become more and more acutely aware of the myriad ways in which I am not yet my true self.

My fullest self is something that needs to continue to be developed, but I'm not fooling anyone.

So this was one of those "I'm freaking out about the date, but it's not really the date I'm freaking out about." things? Fair enough.

Anyway, I'm confident you'll get there in the end.

Okay, leaving again.  Things are going badly enough that I don't want to think about them.

See you.

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

So, I was reading around white house petitions, looking for silly things to sign, when lo, I find this. I think to myself "clearly a joke!".

Then next morning I find this. Now is truly the end of days. I can only pray they are bought up. No one will recognize the twinkie reference in Ghsotbusters! All of a sudden I fell old. This is how the world ends. I'ma make a run on Twinkies, they have a pretty long shelf-life.

I remember not that long ago. Most of the snackfoods around here curiously changed manufacturers to dolly rather than the direct hostess bakerys. I was pretty sure this was already happening then but it's weird to know that yes, most of these snacks are about to disappear for who knows how long.

I actually liked Sno-balls. Ill miss them if they don't make a comeback.

Although it's somewhat depressing to know that a lot of people are losing their jobs, I can't be too upset at the demise of the company. They maintained an artificial state of emergency for years simply to avoid contract limitations, and stayed in bankruptcy for >10 years after that. Besides that, the plants were horrendously unsafe for some workers due to an extreme lack of give-a-shit by management. Workers were flatly forbidden to lock-out the machinery when working on it because of the risk of leaving bread in the oven too long, and I personally know of a case where a conveyer belt was turned on while a maintenance worker was standing on it. Had my uncle not been there to catch him, he would have been seriously hurt or even killed by the fall. This is, of course, why locking out equipment is federally mandated.

I have to agree here. My mom always gave me Sno-Balls for field trips and such.
