I know how you feel. Except the pressing things I haven't even started on are mostly related to forum games on here... If I am this slack with my leisure activities, how the hell am I ever going to get anything important done?! D:
Also the books I reserved online from the library aren't ready for pickup yet.

Now now, we humans are still managing to kill ourselves off before reproducing every now and then.  Hence, the Darwin Awards.  They actually do have to choose who to award due to all the entries they receive.

Many fakes though.

Today I had to attend a HIV+person. Somehow I managed to miss that bit until I was done. I then spent a hour trying to remember if I had followed the necessary precautions, and washing my hands semicompulsively bc I simply did not remember

Don't worry, by the time you see any effects medicine will have advanced far enough to have it only take 5 years off your life expectancy

If due to some strange twist of fate I'm infected first thing I'm doing is buying a plane ticket and bleeding all over your stuff

I think that we are still growing taller on average as a species, aren't we?

Yeah. People nowadays area good 4-6 inches taller than people in the 1600's were. Or even the 1800's. Taller people tend to live less time though, because the stress of pumping the blood that much farther and little stuff like that adds up after fifty years. Since our medical science has advanced so much, it's pretty much equalized the big gap between how long tall people live and how long shorter people live. Nowadays it isn't terrible noticeable, because man has become powerful and magnificient even as his decadence grows.

On a side note, I am a badass cook.

Also growing shorter. The demographics and such are very confusing. I guess we can mostly attribute it to environment and better diets.

This. From what I recall we have better nutrition than our ancestors, and as such are able to grow to our full heights. Epigenetic effects are hard to separate from the effects of actual genes, so calling things evolution is a little tricky without an actual observation of a change in the genetic code.

Actually, it's been something of a parabolic curve. I remember seeing a chart years ago showing that early Cro-Magnon was quite tall (6'2" male average), then gradually got shorter, bottoming out at an average of 5'5" for European men circa 800-1000 AD, then gradually getting taller again.

But then, I'm finding articles with very different data, supposedly that humans were shortest around 3000 AD (5'3" males), then grew up to the Middle Ages, then shrunk until the 16th century, then began growing again. The problem is one of sample selection and the fact that different haplotypes are going to have different height averages.

I'm still wondering if I didn't get a little more Neanderthal than the rest of you guys. Short? Check. Broad and thick? Check. Hairy? Check. Heavy bones? Check. Forever Alone? Check.
