Okay, okay, I'm not that short. I'd probably look it, though, with you looming over me.

Man, caffeine and generalized anxiety are a shitty combination. I'm currently afraid I am going to fail everything ever. Dammit.

Also, first parking ticket ever today. They patrol that lot more often than I thought. Didn't expect them to check it on weekends, so I thought I'd be fine until I could move my car out without paying. It's from the University parking management, as opposed to the actual police, so I don't think it's going to have any legal permanence unless I refuse to pay, and it's only 17 bucks, but still. I can't really blame anybody but myself, since I was trying to cheat the system and didn't know enough about it.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Yeah had something similar happen to me, once. Didn't feel like paying for parking when I only was at the university a few hours a week, so I just parked in the out of the way lots and on the side of the road. Got 1 ticket the entire semester. Never paid it since they had no idea who it was and I never returned to the lot with that car. Never heard anything from the police, either.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.
