Found out yesterday when I saw my cousin in the first time in years(happy thread) that his sister has pancreas cancer.  This is two days after finding out my best friend's sister also has cancer (didn't mention what kind though).

I'm not particularly close to either of them.  My cousin's sister was 8 when me and my cousins lost touch, so I never got to know her, and she's actually adopted, so there's no hidden family genetics to worry about. And my best friends' sister pretty much rubbed me the wrong way ever since we met, so I never got to know her very well.

But it sucks for them and my friends.  And I feel bad about it anyway. And then I feel bad that I should probably be feeling worse. That and I seem to suck at consoling.

Should start studying today, but the combination of iffy weather, overeating, lack of sleep and general boredom is making me into a big pile of meat and bones unable to do anything productive.

I assume "what to do with life", in the long run, is going to be date a different women. For both of you.

Oh of course, I would not want to go back there even if she remained hetero.

I am trying to come up with ideas of how to help her with her problems... The thing is, while we had a bad breakup, I can't really hold grudges for very long. I'm the kind of person who just wants to love/be loved by everyone.

If she didn't rip your heart out too hard, you can try to be a friend.

I bought Garry's Mod under the assumption that if HL2 won't give the damn gameplay I want, I'll just make my own scenarios and have fun that way.

This is rapidly becoming the worst decision I've made in a long time. Gmod is just so obtuse to use. All I want to do is a few simple things, but everything is just so difficult and obfuscated; and there's no good general tutorials. Throw in the the extremely wonky interface and random crashes, and I'm just a mad guy.

General rule of thumb is game design is always harder than it looks. If you've got an easy to use editor with lots of good tutorials, you hit the friggin' jackpot as far as game editors go. They are by far the exception, not the rule.

They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I'm just saying I remember the Map Editor for Age of Empire 2 being more intuitive than this, and that still followed bass ackwards logic.

See, I never had a problem with G-Mod, unless it was an addon that refused to work. It was only a short time before I was setting up NPC wars and building things.
