As far as I know it's the first little girls' show that has been this popular, but shows targeted at little boys have been popular among older fans for quite a while now.
That's because Western shows for little girls suck. Like Bratz and the older MLP stuff (except the movie).

Yeah, PPG has a pretty large fanbase, but I wouldn't necessarily say it was targeted toward little girls. There was a lot of grossout humor in that show.

No using. That's not what freedom is for.

I just don't get why people have such a visceral reaction to the whole thing.

MLP gets hyped. Hype gets hype backlash. That's how these things roll. Something gets popular, it overflows into other fandoms and haters get all reactionary and start brandishing their blunderbusses for these trespasses. It's very much a "get off my lawn" type of affair.

I don't understand hype backlash. I just don't really get how someone can get so worked up (I refer to the angry kind of worked upped, not the hyped kind) over that sort of thing.

For many haters it seems to be mainly a defensive reaction against rabid fans who keep shoving Object-Of-Hype down their throats. Other people just get cranky on principle. I see it as a same thing as, say, gay marriages. There's no reason for people to get up and arms about other people watching MLP or getting married with members of their own sex, but some people still find that rageworthy. People just seem very self entitled to dictate their way of thinking to override others.

The world stopped being non-euclidean, but there's pain behind my eyes. Ugh.

Just egotistical people who think the world should revolve around their likes and dislikes.

Those who react against actual shoving of cultural stuff down their throats are not "hype backlashers." They're normal people who don't want to talk about stuff they have no interest in despite everyone talking to them about it.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

This made me cry today, and every day I've ever read that page. Hell, I cry more on that page than on the pages talking about the Holocaust. .... Does that make me a terrible person? WARNING: TVTROPES

Also, this. Laika is such a sad doggy.

I suddenly(triggered by something, not just randomly :P) thought that I am a person that is horribly jealous. Especially unfounded, selfish jealousy. Whoe'er might become my boyfriend beware, I might just go all yandere on you. >.>

Also, I think I'm never content with something perfectly fine. Not in a productive way, either. More like 'pick something up, play a bit, get bored, go do something else' way. See: forum games.

That is all for this session of minor angst and self-contempt/depreciation. ):

On the upside, at least you recognize it. That's the first step.

Another uncertainty is whether or not it's real. I could be exaggerating without knowing... Dx
I do that a lot.

I'd actually thought that it was a bow and arrow.

At least I was half right. :D

Could use a little more penguin, though...
