Going to have to disassemble the laptop in the morning for a little cleaning. Bloody fan-thing constantly whirring, where a day or two ago it was quiet.

Not looking forward to it (probably going to take a good chunk of the day, especially taking it apart alone), nor the risk of permanent damage involved, but it's either that or go absolutely batshit insane from the constant whirring.

Brightside, though. Maybe I'll manage to figure out which wire got displaced last time that buggered up one of the sound channels. Here's hoping (that it turns on again once I'm done, oh godsohgods, aiee.).

I removed a bit of a fight in here.  There are still posts from it above, but I'm not going to clean out the whole thread.  Please do not continue fighting, and please do not continue the line of discussion in a way that will precipitate more trouble.

Must get back to 3000!

Post sadness! Or if you have none... we'll have to make some!

When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Trivial sadness related to last minor sadness: Having to hibernate computer in order to sleep. It's actually rather depressing, because it nixes my one reliable alarm.

Stupid repetitive beeping doesn't work as well as some nice upbeat classical or hyperspeed aural electrocrack. I almost don't see how people can stand to settle for non-musical alarms...

Twisted my wrist the ONE DAY I'm likely to get work this week.

Granted that's tomorrow, but I'm gonna be unloading a truck or something :/

Feeling unable to really care about anything.

It seems that, whatever I do, I end up completely uninvested in it after a couple of weeks.

Shouldn't have gone to work today. Probably won't tomorrow. Every errant twitch of the sliced finger is painful, and you get a lot of those at work. Enough so that I was getting worried that I would be interfering with the healing.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Trivial sadness? Can do! No more good beer, and the fire died out. Also, 3 days of spring break gone. /firstworldtroubles

Y'all ever type up a response to something, look it over, and decide that the potential replies would be more trouble than it's worth? Just had one of those moments.

All the time. Don't be sad though, be happy that you decided against the cluttering of human thoughtspace with arguments that probably wouldn't be resolved and would be exasperating for all parties both involved and spectating!

I tend to get that feeling after it's posted.
