The amount of racism that occurs on Australia Day annoys the living crap out of me.

My family are on both sides. We hold ties to english immigrants waaaaay back in 1835 (not convicts), and another part was a post-war immigration. My father used to get called WOG because he has slightly olive skin and dark hair. He's half-dutch

So I got mail today.
It was already opened by the time I got to see it. My mother had thought to open and read over it before giving it to me.
A while ago I found her trying to break into my email, because she thinks I am so simple minded she can guess my password.
I really wish she would show some basic level of respect for me and my privacy.

I really wish I could move out of my parents place again. I hate it here, so much. Especially now that I know that the only communication I have with some people is under close surveillance. I wonder if there were other letters she didn't tell me about... She would do that.

I would, but that costs money, a commodity I am currently being deprived of...

You've likely already considered it but do you know anybody nearby that you trust to receive mail for you?

A neighbour does this for a number of his friends who live on narrow boats along the local canal and so have no address.

I know that feel. I'm 26 and had to move back with my parents early last year due to lack of money. Seeing as I'm trying to get into Uni, I might get stuck here even longer if my student loan won't cover living costs...

Sad to say, but no, I have not.
I am a Sydneysider by heart, and have lived there since pretty much my parents moved up to here I am now, so never made any friends here.
Now I'm being forced to live 500 km away from friends, and 20km out of town, and my parents refuse to take my into town for anything more then a trip to the library.
They refuse to even let me get a job, for fear that I will start earning the money to move out I'm guessing.

I know that feel. I'm 26 and had to move back with my parents early last year due to lack of money. Seeing as I'm trying to get into Uni, I might get stuck here even longer if my student loan won't cover living costs...

Hope things work out for you man, sometimes it is hard being young.

Having terrible nightmares. Two days ago I dreamed of a guy (?) who went to the hospital afflicted by a terrible case of streptococcic gangrene which had resulted in the whole area of the pelvis being a necrotic mess, with the hip bones exposed. Today I dreamed of a terrible case of mucormicosis (don't google that). Ew. Ew. Ew.

I was more referring to the 50% of my facebook friendship group and extended circle who posted pictures of themselves wearing aussie-flag clothing saying "If you don't like it, get out of my country!" only less articulate.

I realise I don't know the whole story but along with what else you've said that sounds like a messed up situation. I'm guessing that even if a friend would let you stay you haven't the means to buy a ticket out of there? If you have a friend willing to let you stay and the means to get to them I'd suggest you look for a job from their place. Wish you the best.

Yea, fucked up is a pretty good word.
Basically I tried to commit suicide, didn't work out, so my parents response was to force me back into living with them, where I have nothing to do but live out a meaningless life with no social contact but them until I magically 'get better' like I had a flu and it will go away with enough peace and bed rest. Can't go anywhere or do anything, and the most for filling thing I have done all year is help out in the programming thread, and somehow meant to feel better because of all of this.
Did I mention I hate it here? Because I do.

Also, I understand your situation waaay more than I'm really willing to elucidate.  Except in my case, I don't even have the luxury of resenting my family, because it's nothing but world-straddling economic realities and my own problems keeping me trapped with them.

I'm really sorry to hear that Max. It's tough how people make all sorts of assumptions about what's best because a person has had mental health problems. Are they deaf to the idea that outside stimulation can help?

I relate to that very last bit all too well. Despite having adequate savings from my bore of a job I'm trapped by my own indecision; My family is nothing but supportive.
