Listened to 'Crazy Chocobo', a song from FFXIII-2's soundtrack.

It was a piece of cacophonic s**t. And the worst part? I can't pry it off my ears.

That was terrible. Why did you make me see that.

Yeah, I think I'm pretty much done with the Final Fantasy series.

EDIT: Never mind--if they're mostly doing away with the bad kind of cutscene, bringing back a world map, and re-supplying us with airships, then I might go back.  Also, another strong female protagonist in multiple games... hurm...

I also agree with the above post.

FF6 is second to it, IMO.

No, man, FF6. My opinions remain completely uninfluenced by nostalgia, obviously >_______>

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Oh man, my little tiny USB mouse broke, and now I have to resort to the barbarism that is using the touchpad to move the cursor around. I hate having to do that, and it'll be until next week before I can get a replacement!

I loved FF7 for the music more than anything else.

Especially this:

And this:

There was lots of other good music too though.

I remember playing and beating 9, but I'll be damned if I can remember anything specific about it besides it's art style and frequent callbacks to the old days of FF1, 2, and 3.

Loved FF5 and 6. 4 Was good too. Beat 8 like five times over with increasingly hard challenges, and I'll stop right there otherwise I'll fly into a tirade on it.

10 = great but was a disappoint in the end. Blitzball is still the best minigame ever conceived. 10-2 was a failure. Everything after doesn't even exist.

And yeah, 7. I liked it, but I beat it years ago and barely remember anything about it just like 9.

P.S. Dancing Mad is still probably the best final boss music ever.

Most everyone I've talked to has the exact opposite opinion of yours, heh. Most people I know disliked 10 but thought 10-2 was an interesting (if flawed in its own way) offshoot. I still hear people praising its battle system.

And Tactics (for the ps1, not the GBA game) is the best final fantasy game. Hands down. I like FF6 better personally, but that's due to nostalgia (and the fact it's damn good in its own right).

Oh my how did I forget Tactics? I dropped 10~ bucks to get a used copy from Amazon and I have to say that it has the most serious and grounded story of any game I can think of, and still be it's wacky fantasy self.

Tactics is the best. The only two problems I have with the game is A) You can only take 5 dudes into battle, and B) fucking Ramza. Ponce.

Yeah it's too bad the flattest character was the main one (not to mention all the other protagonists go silent once they enter your party). The villains were awesome though. I love Delita and Wiegraf.
