Grey hair just makes you look respectable anyway.

Unless you're a redhead.

Yeah, I just became respectable some few weeks ago.

I know someone who's gone almost completely bald at 25. He still has no trouble in the girlfriend department, so don't worry about it, honestly.

My lil sister got billed for 14 thousand dollars for two doctors visits that didn't do anything. Yay, American medical industry!

Assuming you're uninsured, remember that this isn't the price they expect, this is the price they're hoping you'll pay. It's usually not hard to get them down to AT LEAST half that, since that's usually on par with what the insurance companies pay, and its often possible to get them down further.

Which is still a large chunk of change in your case...

I never thought you could haggle with doctors.

You can, by mentioning a magical incantation.

And that phrase of power is: "Bankruptcy".

I accidentally sent myself a PM twice.

Why do I do all of these stupid things.

Of course you can.  If you default or jump off a bridge or something then they don't get anything.

And honestly, most people give them the run around till they end up spending more than its worth trying to collect from you. They will be exceptionally willing to haggle if you have the money and agree to pay them /right now/. Obviously not always possible for people, it does provide value to them since they don't have to deal with the risk of collections.

It's not their fault. Medical care is expensive.

I hope that at the very least the US gets public healthcare of some sort out of this OWS thing. I've heard too many terrible stories of people mortgaging their homes to pay for therapies, or cutting down on immunosuppressant doses because private insurance companies weaseled out of paying for that.

If things go according to plan, the healthcare bill Obama passed (one thing I do appreciate) should lead us towards public healthcare. If the plan is what they're telling us it is.

Next time put on your best wild-eyed stare and look them straight in the eyes, not saying a word.

That gets unnerving quick. It's just wrong and people can't stand it.

Doesn't work for me.  Look, I'm 5'3", pretty svelte, and there's nothing that scary about a small crazy-looking person with another obviously normal guy along.

None of you told them to shove off?

Uh, no.  I didn't realize what was happening.
