What do you call this feeling when you meet your old friends after a decade or so, and they all are or are soon getting married, perhaps have children and some semblance of family life, professional careers, and generally seem to be progressing with their lives towards some vaguelly-defined better future, while you're still stuck in your own little world of infantile nihilistic hedonism?

If you're satisfied with whatever you have going on, then don't let it bother you.  We're fed the ideal of career/family as if it's the best thing for everybody.  Don't feel pressured.  I don't know anything about your life, but I'm going to guess that you enjoy a freedom from obligations that I would be envious of.  I'm one of those people you described, minus the career part.  Had my first kid at 21.

I've caught a cold which besides the annoying runny nose has given me an awful headache. Ugh.

Had a big paragraph typed up for the spambot. But Toady beat me to the thread.

The last time I have easy internet access now.
I'll really miss reading up on certain posts, right after standing up.

Goodbye bay12, see you in three weeks.

Tried to watch draw with me today... Got about 20 seconds in before I broke down into tears and had to close the tab.

Some part of me is getting more and more hideously depressed, and I'm not exactly sure what to do about it.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Yeah, I'd like to say "I'm gonna kill it with fire," but I'm mature enough now that I can recognize that as self-delusion rather than any sort of actual internal shift.

I'm not depressed about being depressed, though, which is really good.  It's just that my self-esteem is starting to slip past the "food is totally justified" stage, which is pretty weird because for anyone else I'd say "they're human, of course food is justified."

. . .

Brain bends reality!

I've got tactics to deal with this, though, so I'll start employing those with great prejudice tomorrow morning.  For now I'll just try to enjoy the rest of the evening.

I've suddenly grown very tired of watching that lizard. Time for a new avatar. Something else.
