Have I become more mature, or has my favored other forum become less so? I don't know. All I know is, I blame you, Bay12, for setting such an impossible standard of reasonability. :p
Look he's starting to realize.

My throat's itchy to the point where I want to swallow sharp objects to make the itch go away. This happens a lot.

Not impossible, I say. I've quite frankly seen more mature forums.

The crucial flaw with most of those places, however, is that they're either quite specialised or very stiff and clean. I've yet to find a place with the same mix of informality and coherence, for lack of a better word.

Well, this other one is a D&D forum and there is a 30-page thread where people are insulting each other over whether the Monk or the Adept is a better class. Seriously, we have a flame war over this. And I remember it being so mellow there.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I have nose/sinus problems. There's a cut or something somewhere up there, keeps bleeding a bit then clotting, then I get all bunged up, have to blow my nose to get rid of all kinds of gunge from up in there, but that just re-opens it and starts it over again. I have a choice of breathing and putting up with it for ages, or suffocating and hoping it heals before I die in the night.

Have you considered getting it coagulated?

It's only been with me about four nights, going to give it another 3 to go away before irritating a doctor with it.

I have a varicose vein way up in my sinuses that used to randomly bleed all the time.  I've had it cauterized three times.  They coat a wire with some sort of acid and stick it up there.  Not pleasant... but neither are 5 hour nosebleeds that drip down your throat if you tilt your head back.

I'm sad. :'( One of the harddrive in my disk array had just DIED. As completely dead. It's an old (not that old since it's not yet 6 years) Maxtor ATA hdd. (which Maxtor has already been bought by Seagate in 2006). And I felt depressed now.

HDD are not that durable anymore nowadays. One of the HDD in the array is actually 10 years old with just 20GB capacity, but still working very well. (I hate Seagate product even more now, cheap baxxxx  >:()
Maxtor drives have been shit for twenty years.

My arms are in sooo much pain after trying to climb a waterfall earlier today. The rocks were covered in really slippery moss; so slippery that I slid backwards multiple times despite being on all fours and it only being about a 20 degree slope. Generally fun stuff. But in the process I somehow managed to get covered in some sort of insect larvae and so was brushing small worm-like creatures off my entire body for the next hour. Being covered in small maggot-like creatures is actually about as not-fun as it sounds. It seemed like a good idea at the time. >_<

tldr version: alway is best left in a basement, where he won't get covered in little insects
