It said, specifically, "installed".

...upon reflection, I really should have better things to do with my life then trying to make Steam cooperate with me on this. Now I feel sad again.

I have never had a “crush”, so I am sure that I know nothing about them. Does the burning to death happen often?

Someone you're thinking about and you're not sure if you're excited to have a potential friend or interested romantically.

Knowing me, it's door number one.  My friendships usually start with either

a. Hatred/rivalry
b. Romantic sentiment

Without some sort of emotional kickstart, I mostly ignore folks.  So, eh.  We'll see if I light him on fire or not.
I read that literally and laughed my ass off.

You could buy something for like $1.  Hell, tell your friends and they'll probably buy you something for $1.
Too young to have a credit card, and only 1.5 GB hard drive space in any case.
Buy Might and Magic 6,7 or 8 on Ebay or something. They're only a MB or two, they're massive games, and they're all good fun. I prefer 7, my dad likes 6, and though I've never met anyone who liked 8, no-one's ever disliked it either.

Also, you get to hack apart a alien android designed to destroy planets with your Broadsword of Badassery +12, with a +2 damage bonus against the undead. You won't forget that experience in a hurry.

... Bro, socially awkward or not, it sounds like the only reason why you commented was to inform me that you'd never been attracted to anyone.

I had supposed it was simple curiosity about your odd statement about !!crushes!!, but I suppose that I can not be entirely certain that a complaint about never having had a crush was not some part the reason I posted, but it was churlish regardless, as it was clearly related to something of a personal matter. Perhaps I cite social awkwardness when I am simply being an outright boor.

That's cool for you, but I don't really know how productive it is.

Of which part do you question the productivity? My pedantry? Never having been attracted to anyone? Telling you about that? All of it?

I read that literally and laughed my ass off.
Better go put it back on, then.

Anyway, I'm sad for multiple reasons. My neck is out, my computer has been lagging more than usual and my cat hasn't come home for several days.

On a completely unrelated note, I have received word my grandmother has finally died. This was known to be imminent; she's been in Hospice care since Saturday night, and pretty much every day since then was potentially the final one. It just happened to be tonight, rather than yesterday or tomorrow. Somehow, it's still something of a surprise.

I can't say I'm very sad at all, though I recognize that since it's a bit premature to be definite since it hasn't been half an hour since I got the news. It isn't as if I was particularly close to her; I believe that my memories only really begin to stick with me about the same time the dementia was setting in. So, for the majority of my life, she has been my grandmother, yet also been increasingly demented. That situation sort of precluding getting to know her terribly well, so I don't think her death will have a huge impact on its own... I'm more concerned about my father and grandfather, really. But time will tell how they react. And how I react.
I know all about that. I didn't react much at all when 3 of my grandparents (technically two of them weren't, but they filled the same role in the familiy, so I had 3 sets instead of the usual 2) died because it was expected for months before the fact.

Fenrir:

Ah, well, an open complaint is different.  I can't say you're being a boor at all.  Simply speaking, I find myself somewhat irritated when people post in a manner that occludes their feelings, and yet seems obviously designed to incite a particular reaction.  This is entirely my issue and follows from some difficulties incurred in my youth.

It seemed, simply speaking, that you were making a senseless comment in order to garner sympathy, whilst hiding it beneath a trivial question about immolating people.

On the other hand, I'm on a diet which is making me both hungry and cranky, so I may have totally misread you.

What sort of diet? It should not have to induce crankiness.

Flew back to SF, back to work, current romantic interest freaking out over insecurities, me - I'm just fine, if merely trying to find a way to help her help herself. As that's all I can do- and appears my favourite tea shoppe in Berkeley closed down.

Far Leaves Tea, you will be missed.

Om Shan Tea is all I got left, and they closed their unique tea bar.

Yes, I fear you have misread me. That was not my intention at all, though I fear I have little means of proving the same. It was intended for comedic effect: “I do not know about relationships, so perhaps they really do catch on fire.” I neither expected nor wanted any sympathy. Of course, I can see how you would come to the conclusion that I did.

I think it is a good thing that I have never had a crush, as I am not prepared for any kind of romantic attachment at the present time, and I certainly was not prepared for such at any point prior to the present time.

What sort of diet? It should not have to induce crankiness.

Pretty much every diet seems to induce crankiness in me, if I'm having anything below the equilibrium total.  My brain seems to be very delicately tweaked.  Tiny fever?  No thinking for you!  Little calorie deficit?  No mood balance for you!  Caffeine?  Comprehension of anything but systems analysis is gone now!  Tired?  Why are you even trying to word anymore you bundtcake

So I basically just have to sit it out and hope that, in the interim, I become more able to concentrate and happier.

In unrelated news, I want to eat cake more than I can even say.  I normally hate cake.  But I would love to have some cake right now.

To Fenrir:

Well, that's all right then, and I thank you for your explanation.

So while I was working in the yard today some exotic bug bit me on the shin. Now I'm missing a patch of hair around the bite, 3-4 inches in diameter.

This could be problematic. Hope it doesn't get worse by morning.

Some light googling suggests that certain ticks can cause patches of hair to fall out near the bite.

I needed to get a 4 (out of 10) for a test I made today to be sure I wouldn't have to do the year all over again. It didn't went very well >.<
I obviously don't need to do it very good to get a 4 but still... It really went bad :(
