Ugh! I think I can smell pus leaking from my toe!
Ok what the hell is wrong with you? Are you that much desensitized to the world that you feel like posting whatever the fuck you want?
Is that somehow not clear by now?

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

No. The horrible smell is making me sad so I posted it in the sad thread.

I'm gonna recommend a doctor, because nasty smells from sores generally means infection, and that's not the sort of shit you want spreading. If it's leaking, that might even be ER material. Seriously.

Pus isn't really a big deal unless it's a disturbing amount.  Smell... might be.  I would only worry if it's painful, as in any consistent (+increasing) pain that doesn't feel like it matches the wound.

Sincerely, survivor of two serious MRSA infections (each requiring 1-2 weeks hospitalization)

Damn, i know someone that lost a whole vein in the arm from staph infection.

I've had one in each elbow.  They're serious business.  I think I nearly lost my arm the second time.  There were some very disturbing body horror moments, too... like waiting in a wheelchair for about 20 minutes outside the x-ray room.  I didn't move my arm much, which was most of its length.  When I did, the armrest had made a huge, deep indent.  My elbow was flat... and didn't correct itself for hours.  It took about 4 days of the most aggressive dosage of the strongest antibiotic available for that type of infection before it finally began to recede.  It had claimed everything from my fingertips to a few inches beneath my shoulder that whole time.

The thought of getting another scares the hell out of me, because it would likely be even more resistant.  The second one about doubled in severity compared to the first.

Damn, SalmonGod. That's terrible. Did it leave you with any permanant harm?

Yeah, I think it's a bit of a social spiral brought on by a joke response to your good fortune. Don't think anyone can reasonably blame you for the awesometimes that the universe has been kind enough to hurl your way.

Yes, it's this one.  Nothing to do with you, Telle.  I can usually keep my unhappy to myself, but open pessimism => open pessimism =/

To be on-topic, I've started hating group theory more than I thought was humanly possible.  It's mostly the professor who's teaching it (as well as his grader), who have made me think that being accountable is one of the most important things EVER.  If I ever end up getting a professorship, one of my top priorities is going to be responsibility to the students.  I don't want to fuck anyone over like this.

Just general paranoia and the threat of it happening again.  The thing about staph is it's naturally carried by everyone on their skin, but if there is an opening or weakness, it can penetrate and cause infection.  Everyone's strain is somewhat unique (and can transmit/interact with others) and can become resistent to antibiotics.  So really it's something that just happens and there's not much you can do to prevent it.  The worst part for me is I've had problems with eczema the last few years, so I almost always have some damaged skin on my hands and elbows... and I apparently carry a crazy resistant strain of staph.  So I'm pretty sure it's only a matter of time.  There was a space of almost 10 years between my first and second occurance.

I certainly hope it's the professor.  It boggles my mind that anyone could enjoy math yet genuinely dislike group theory.

I dislike his apparent attitude of "fuck the book, and fuck lecture notes.  I'll give mostly-incoherent lectures and about 1/7 of my problems will be stupidly difficult or completely incorrect.  Also, Here Be Handwaving."

I like group theory in general, but this professor really makes me rage, as do my classmates, as does the textbook, as does the grader, as does just about everything else but the group theory itself.

I wish I could actually understand mathematics.

All the numbers just dance around, confusing the ever-loving fuck out of me. As they would say, it's all Greek to me.

I guess that's why I like History and stuff better. >_>

Wait till you get to the part where they stop using numbers. Then it really is all greek.

Note: I SUCK at math. I've had to grind so hard to get through cal 3, stats, discreet and algorithms.
