I've just realised that it's been a year of trying to find someone. More specifically, the depressing part, I've spent a year getting to know people and then confessing I liked them to people I felt something for and have had it thrown in my face.

I don't think it matters how many 9's you put back there before adding the overdash.

I think it's a mistake to try to "find someone". Either it comes up or it doesn't.

Meh, I guess I used the wrong wording.

Also, if nobody looks, nobody finds.

Depends on what you understand as "finding someone".
You can be in a situation, where it's highly unlikely that you'll meet anybody, if you refrain from putting in some effort.

I just think that it's not the right focus. Most stable couples I know were already friends, and doing things together, before they became couples.

Besides, I find there's something vaguely demeaning about "going out to find someone". I always get this mental image of breeding animals with males looking for a female in heat (and even sadder for neglected ones) . People shouldn't have to do that stuff.

I guess I should say I get to know people before I make a decision, not eill you go out with me on the first meeting. Like about a month or two.

And I don't think a "female in heat" is exactly what he's looking for 8)

Not correct.  The emotion I was expressing was not "ice cream cone."
