I finally have a reason to post something in the sad thread.

I bought tickets to Eddie Izzard's show tonight.  Two tickets, me and my best friend, whom I haven't seen in a while.  He was absolutely desperate for an excuse to get out and get away from his job for a night, and as much as I love Eddie Izzard he's ten times the fan I am.  I told him I was buying tickets for us no matter what a month ago.  He said do everything in his power to get the night off.

He got the night off.  Tomorrow night.  Because the dumbass thought it was Friday and not Thursday, despite talking about it so many times.

So I'm going to the show by myself, which might actually be the most depressing part for the symbolism.  But I'm not letting the ticket go to waste.  Who knows, maybe I'll meet some new, punctual friends.

I lost the entire day, poof. Just like that.

What I remember: hour upon hour of laying in my bed paralysed, confused and frightened, joust staring at the conveniently placed clock for almost a day while physically unable to move a muscle.

What probably actually happened: I somehow fell asleep and dreamed a nightmare about the above, then woke up so gradually that I didn't notice due to being in the same location I dreamt I was, and thus placebo effect caused paralysis for an hour or so before I managed to escape.

Still, 6 hours lost to nothing, I had loads of things I should have done, I'm the oposite of well rested, and I have a memory as vivid as if it really had happened and that's really what counts for subjective experience...

While I've never been paralyzed per se, I frequently have problems waking up in the morning, especially if I didn't get much actual sleep.  Not because I don't want to or can't move, but because my mind constructs its own little reality where stuff works completely differently.  And sometimes it'll be so bad that I just can't get myself out of bed because my mildly hemorrhaging brain is absolutely convinced that I'm not supposed to be able to.

Imagine that you couldn't get up without appointing a bureaucracy and getting a score counter below a certain number.  Now replace the bureaucrats with a cat and the counter with a clock (ticking up of course).  Now imagine that those rules are as implacable as gravity itself.  That was my morning.  It's been getting worse in recent years, and I'm starting to wonder if I should see a specialist about it.

I read about that. Admittedly I read it on Cracked.com but they usually research their stuff well.

Sound's like you got Sleep Paralysis.

Apparently some interesting legends have been spawned from Sleep Paralysis (supposedly the Succubus was, as having sleep paralysis can feel like someone is sitting on you).

Sounds like you had a particularly severe episode (if episode is the right word). Nothing to worry about, it won't hurt you.

Freaky, yes, but it won't hurt you.

Meh, sleep paralysis is quite rare, and for the most part random. It probably won't happen again.

It happens when you sleep straight up or face down. Most people sleep on their side.

So wait, are you a masochist or something? Because you come across that way.

Or, better yet, a Slaneeshii cultist?
