They stole my mechanical pencil , my classmates are the worse I could have , I seem to be the only smart one in the class
I had a electrical pen that I wanted to use to prevent exactly that. Unfortunately it didn't survive the summer vacation :/
This is kind of sickening.
I almost want to think this is fake, because it's such a self-indulgent, close-minded, and evil argument... and she's proud of it! I think I hate this woman.
Some people are arseholes. You have to live with it.  Unless somebody gets hurt. Oh please let her do something that warrants a prison sentence. Or at least a withdrawal of rights of child custody.

This is probably just because I had my early childhood in China, but I really didn't see anything wrong with that article. Sure, she yelled at the kid, but she did it in the end.

You can't just force some kid to do something it doesn't want to! Unless it involves school or broccoli.

Also, todays english lesson involved a text about Chinas version of the tenth plague. Ugh!

Today was a tragic day. I was attacked by a pair of clippers.

So, I got this new pair of trimmer/clippers, and I decided to get my goatee back into presentable shape. Then I screwed up one of the corners (wavy facial hair grows in really weird patterns), and tried to make the other side do the same thing, so it didn't look too horrible. Then I screwed that side up. So, I tried to even it out again...you see where this is going.

I now only have 5 o'clock shadow where I once had a goatee. My wife doesn't know yet. I grew it for her. [mourn] Give it about a week, though, and it'll be back better than ever. [/mourn]

No offense to people like Vector, but I hate Math.  Math is the devil and it makes me sad.  I do more math calculating how badly I can do and pass than I do in the actual class.

This quarter is the worst.  I dropped so many balls Lebron James couldn't palm them all.  It was ridiculous.  I still don't have my math textbook.

There's a glimmer of hope though.  This is my last required math course.  If I can scrape by on this one, I'm home free forever and can go the rest of my life without ever doing math more complicated than D&D character creation.

Yeah, with the Chinese piano mum, I didn't really have a problem with it. I mean, that's more or less the approach that a typical parent would take on a child that doesn't want to do anything. Sure, she was forcing it on her very young, but if I ever had a kid get up from his homework, or piano lesson, or whatever, then I'd probably pull the exact same haranguing and stuff to ensure it gets done. Except without the verbal abuse and staying up way past their bedtime.

The thing that I don't like is the whole 'no sleepovers, no play dates, etc.' Now, as a principle citizen of regional Australia, I've got no damn idea what a 'play date' is. But I would just love for my kids to have a reasonable social life. Especially while they're young.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

Eh, it's love it or hate it. Mathematicians tend to be either eccentric or insane.

I get looks of disgust when I have to reveal my weight, or maybe it's just shock.  Then again I got really tall starting in High School and actually have lost weight.

As I understand it, it's when you and another parent establish a time for your kids to hang out together as opposed to just an informal thing.  It's partway towards a party, because you can do at least some of the activity planning stuff.
