I would be the same way.
However, I am willing to cook noodles and rice.
Otherwise, though, I'm too lazy to spread peanut butter most of the time, even.

The only arguments my parents seem to have against sending me to a university i would like to go is that "You can't go trough life doing only things you like" and "If you really wanted to do that in life you would have been a kid wonder and found yourself a job at the age of 15"

Thats some of the worst excuses from a parent I've heard. Maybe they're tring to dance around the costs? I'm not sure if anywhere else is letting uni's charge what they want but for me, my prospects for uni have gone down a lot because of it...

Do what I'm doing. Apply for three scholarships a day and hope you get lucky.

My parents couldn't afford to send me to university, so I got scholarships and saved up from working part-time. It got me this far, and for the last 2 semesters, I've been on Student Loans, which has worked quite well.

Best way to show your folks that you're serious is to scrounge up scholarship money on your own, and take charge of your future for yourself.

I passed two classes last semester either without opening the book or just not buying it. Alternatively depending on the class you could look for other online sources for the book.

Amazon. With the ISBN number, you can usually save 90% or more on your books.

It's algebra.  I've taken care of that one, I have one, and one is just reading stories and commenting, with all but one story available online.  The professor basically said straight up you don't need the book.

The last one I will need to buy at the campus bookstore, as it's a custom program and the thing I'm paying for is a code to join the class's online program.

Fuck is that for math class? I failed it twice because I couldn't handle dealing with the program we were using.

No, it's introduction to Word, Powerpoint, and Excel.  In other words a class I don't need but have to take.

Most colleges do. It makes it easier for the other teachers.

All the books I needed for college were out of stock until it was too late to pay with financial aid.  Now what hte hell am I supposed to do?

Tell your professors exactly that, and get used to being told you should have magically planned ahead more or made friends beforehand or something.  Most have been around long enough that they're impressed when people even tried to buy the book beforehand.  You could try looking in the library, most colleges (ones big enough to have a library anyway) keep a couple copies of most ordinary textbooks.  You might not be able to check them out, but they're probably there.

No, it's introduction to Word, Powerpoint, and Excel.  In other words a class I don't need but have to take.

It's also a handy way to drum up some tuition cash for very little work on the university's part.  Regarding Algebra, I had a math class where I definitely had to buy the book, because we did old fashioned homework with it.  I thought I could be slick and just copy down the problems from the bookstore copies, but that was a pain in the ass and the books wouldn't be on the shelves all semester anyway.
