At the U of Wash., apparently professors get to take a certain number of credits for free each quarter...

That's one big reason I want to teach CS.  :D

Thursday's fire is slowly being put out, form what I see, much thanks goes to the Russians and their il-76s. So far we've lost around 10,000 acres. Firefighters, cops and others keep dieing every hour. Some kid volunteered to help and died along with another fireman. People have been evacuated from their homes, but they keep coming back to grab their stuff. Some police and firemen tried pulling a family out and got caught in a fire. Police are looking for the cause of the fire, their current suspect is a family that went smoking on Thursday afternoon and didn't bother alerting anyone when they accidentally lit something on fire. Damn it.

If everything continues as it has been today, I may wind up with no home to go home to tonight. :(

It's cold out there, find shelter.  :[

Anyway, went to Choate to take the SAT this morning.  That went fine and all, but the whole damn school pisses me off for some reason.  I can't believe it's a high school.  It's so huge and when I see the rich kids living on the campus (yeah they can do that) it makes me want to go all The Magnificent Steiner on them all.

New atheist thread. This was a very bad idea to begin with, and it gets dumber every time a new one is made after the old one gets locked.

On one hand, it's nice being a film major and spending all day writing, watching, and listening to quality (and sometimes terrible) cinema. On the other hand, my neck is really starting to hurt from these headphones :\ I need a break.

Do film-ey stuff I suppose. My guess is writing, and later directing movies.

Like many arts degrees, it doesn't really directly lead to anything. Fortunately I already plan on working my way up in the film industry by starting as someone's gopher and just working my way up slowly by learning the job of the guy above me one at a time, so I have a game plan, but honestly it's all about learning and educating myself on material I find incredibly interesting.

Okay.

Crusader kings is ridiculous when you have a big empire. My empire (and yes I can finally call it that, I have held a ton of kingdoms for two hundred years and been the papal controller more times then I can count and I still just got my first empire title) is so big and powerful the only real outside threat I can think of would be if the three biggest Christen kingdoms and the two biggest Muslim kingdoms joined up against me. It is to the point where I can take almost any kingdom with my personal troops alone.

At any rate, I spent thirty years stabling my kingdom for my heir to step in and finally my emperor dies. My new heir, the grandson of the emperor is crowned king and everyone loyalty drops a lot.

I have now spent 20 years and over 50,000 ducats preventing civil war and I still have lost my biggest french holdings, all my German/Balkan holdings and my single most powerful duchy has left.
