Open it up, with a screwdriver.  Check for loose connections. Try shoving the wire back up the little hole it comes out of.

Do you mean the USB slot or the receiver? This thing doesn't have a screw holding it together. Just plastic I don't want to tamper with.

Now rummaging through my old computer hardware papers for some form of warranty.

No no no.

Did you check all your USB ports with the device?  My printer has the same problem in that it wasn't recognized by a few of the USB ports.

I checked the two free ones in the front and two of the free ones in the back, although messing with the wireless internet hub, keyboard and mouse don't sound like good ideas. Still, I might try that.

I wouldn't bother with those.  If four ports don't recognize it something is definitely wrong with the device.

I actually found a solution you might like.

Seems the only way Microsoft is going to ship this to me is if I fax them images of the thing. So warranty voiding isn't an issue here.

Umm... I'd tell you to reboot, and update drivers, then reboot again but you know what you're doing. So I won't.  Just say it in a rather silly and contrived manner.

Eh, I just use a wired 360 controller. Never did like it when controllers went wireless.

TOONYMAN! >:(

You just lost me two hours to TVTropes I'm not gonna get back again. If you're gonna link it, at least put it behind a spoiler for weak-willed people like me, with suitable warnings.

I am sad today because I lack the self-imposed freedom to post a link to the dwarf fortress and Liberal Crime Squad entries on TV Tropes with the caption:

What. Is going on.

Today Karen's parents showed up. They had been cleaning out their house before finally moving and came across her Diary in a corner of a closet and decided to give it to me.

... I don't wanna read this thing. I'm afraid what I might find inside.

Not to be Captain Obvious here, but make absolutely sure you don't until you're ready. I enjoy having you around when you're happy.

Well, as one of those people who don't truck with the concept of "things man was not meant to know" I'd have to say that you should read it. Hearing about it also fills me with fear and aprehension, but even so, I feel that you should know what's inside.

On another note, my brother is using my steam account for the Star Trek Online beta, which I can also play. This is the good part. The bad part is that I cannot use steam while he's gonna be playing. Which will be a lot.

Is there supposed to be some sort of specific reason to read the diary or is it just one of those things that people are expected to do?
If the former than you should probably ask yourself if you trust their opinion on this sort of thing.
If the latter than I suppose you should feel free to take as long as you need to make up your own mind...

Pros:
Knowledge is power(you are a capable, responsible person...)
 Unknown

Cons:
AAAAAARGH, my brain, my brain, get it out!
It may create tension in a relationship.
It may just plain be wrong.
 Unknown

Other:
Could affect both parties behaviour, especially diary writing behaviour if discovered...
 Unknown

I feel sad today because I am posting this...

To clarify, I think they gave it to me in the hopes it could help solve some things. I never really got into the poor things head for instance, so... This might give me some insight into what was going on in her head.

Also this really won't cause any relationship issues given well, she's been dead for three years.

Anyway I've already read a little bit, but this isn't the right topic to talk about that. Surprisingly.
