In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I got confused for a moment (looked at the first page instead of the last) and Toony sniped the 25000th reply in the happy thread.

Thanks to you fine folks and the past few pages in this thread, I am now deeply afraid of Math 119. I don't even know what's in that class, but I really don't want to take it now. My brain very well may melt entirely.

Edit, from the syllabus: Complex numbers, trigonometric identities, solution of trigonometric equations, solving systems of linear equations, rational expressions, solution of rational equations, solution of quadratic equations, logarithmic and exponential functions.

I pretty much know nothing of what's going to happen in this class. Hear that sound? That's my brain screaming like a blonde in a horror film.

Ah crap, I managed to lose the new room. Curse the iSketch interface for confusing me endlessly.

So it's mostly Advanced Higher Maths. I can sort of do most of that. Complex numbers are okay, you're just taking the square root of -1. Everything else is just trig.

MUN conference, I'm representing Pakistan for the topics of preventing an arms race in space and possible resolutions to conflict in the middle east (haha, made doubly funny by the fact that I'm Jewish, and representing Pakistan, I should come in with a yarmulke on), and my partner and I recieved our assignment the day before, and he has lots of work to do in school, so I get the dubious honor of writing our entire position paper with accompanying bibliography in a space of 4 hours between classes and at home an hour before the conference. Great.
