Apologies to all who suffer serious consequences because of corona. I feel like I'm just bitching about insignificancies and being an arse for feeling annoyed that I have to be the slightest bit inconvenienced over things guidelines that I need follow to protect others. But still.
Honestly I figure that with this thread you don't have to worry about how your sad compares to other peoples sads.  I feel this thread and the other threads like it are to get things off your chest, or if you are happy about something and just want to tell the world.

Also that gives me a thought, back when I still worked for DG we had a lot of people who pretty much came in to see one particular employee.  A lot of folks figured they were being creepers, but she is genuinely a happy person who is always smiling.  Maybe they just come in to see her always happy smile.

I didn't know asterix and obelix was that popular across the world.

They were pretty much ubiquitous in Australia too. Though I'm not sure whether we owned any at home, they were in the school libraries in every school I went to, along with other European ones in the same form factor such as Tin Tin, and Iznogoud (which is also by Asterix's writer). Looking up the writer René Goscinny, I do recall the one "Lucky Luke" being available as well.

I think America was the hold-out here due to their size, they became the modern equivalent of isolationist China or Japan. It wasn't all that long ago that cartoon series imported from Japan had their origins actively obfuscated (the infamous "Jelly Donuts", or trying to claim Tokyo is Paris, and the Tokyo Tower is the Eiffel Tower). The irony here  is that modern America is super insular (hopefully getting better post-internet) while modern China actively laps up all the world's culture.

I believe all or most of the schools I went to had Asterix and Obelix in the library, too.
Pretty sure I owned copies of some too, though.

I definitely accumulated a few books/films of Asterix and Obelix during my younger years, and I grew up in the US, so... Absolutely.

Albert Uderzo died, age 92.
He had a good long life, still sad, I grew up with Asterix and Obelix comics.

Oh wow, Uderzo wasn't dead already? I'd not realized... impressive.
Guy lived long, did good work. He'll be missed.

Perhaps you should step back and take a more panoramix view of things.

I'm losing hope with all this covid19 shit. Open question whether any of my plans from one month ago have survived this shit. For that matter it's an open question how many of us will make it out of this crisis alive and with intact lung function. And that's without even going on the crisis that will hit us afterwards, or a potential peak number zwei in late autum.

That's just 2 in German. He means there may be a second peak.

There will likely be one. The big questions are how will it will be and how ready we'll be to cancel fucking everything again.

If we get through this first one that is.
