TFW when you were on a good road to get your sleep schedule back in order but for whatever reason you just suddenly can't sleep again and it's 5 AM and fuck me what am I still doing awake, literally refreshing random pages for no reason, that was the last three or so hours of my life.

Ugh, hello me from last night.

Except I sorta just tossed and turned for hours despite being exhausted.

Gj me.

I'm over 30, and I frequently dream of still living in high school

I'm almost 30, and I dream of an alternate reality where I actually have a college education. Or a high school education, for that matter.

EDIT: Or a grade school education, if we're really getting down to brass tacks.

Depends on the state, mate. Homeschooling in the US runs the gamut from "yeah, sure, we don't give a shit" to "no", and I've lived in a few different ones. I've been places where the parents just need to say "yeah, we're educating our child" to ones where they actually check and send out tests that the child needs to take.

Under the supervision of the parents. With no public official presiding.

My homeschooling period left me thinking for years that "die" was the plural of "dice". Gah.
I'm sure I probably learnt plenty of stuff that is still bouncing around my head being put to actual use, too, but that was irritating to discover.

Was briefly homeschooled, thankfully very briefly. Public school sucked, and teachers were overworked, but most of them were qualified.... I mean 1 or 2 but yeah.

I didn't visit my dad in the hospital with pneumonia.  I was too... scared/angry/in denial.  It was just a few days but still, way to be mature, me...

Anyway he's out, and we hung out for a couple hours, and I'm helping him with some furniture tonight.  But his throat's in bad shape, there's a good chance he'll never swallow safely again.
He's taking it a lot better than I am.

Send him my condolences for the loss of his career as a porn star.

Em, perhaps an inappropriate comment, that.

In seriousness, though, that sounds very uncomfortable. But the important thing is that it sounds like he's not letting it impact too much on his life, which is good.

My condolences, Doom.

Yeah, he's determined to keep active, despite this and diabetes.  Kayaking, mostly.  He's always fought for his health.

We were making jokes and talking about Pokemon GO for most of lunch, but it is a big change and probably permanent.  When I was... really sick last year, I couldn't stand the sight of anyone seeing me.  I curled up with a stash of food and shuddered it out.

He basically tried the same thing (with his GF's help) and this happened.  It's scary for a lot of reasons...  bluh, anyway.  I'm glad I saw him, and am heading back over in a minute.

And thanks for trying to make a joke, Kagus.  Someday you'll succeed :P
