Yeah, I still vaguely remember most major figures from my internet history, but that's it.  I'll never talk to them again.  I dunno, it just hit me and made me sad.

You know what's a terrible thought?

Chances are there will come a day when I don't remember any of you.  I had this thought during a correspondence with another internet person I think is pretty cool.  All these friendships are so transient.  I make friends with people on the internet and then one of us just drops off the face of the Earth and we never speak again.

Jeez, now I remember why I value my real friends more than internet friends.
Wait, this isn't something that's supposed to happen with all kinds of friends, in general?

You slowly drift apart from real friends.  Online friends just vanish one day and you're left wondering if they died in a car crash or you offended them or they just quit whatever you were doing.

Yeah, this is the angle it gets me with.  It's one thing if a group or game or forum just drifts apart until you never talk to somebody again.  It's another thing when someone you talk to regularly just vanishes off the face of the Earth, especially if the person previously talked about problems in their life or going on around them.  Heck, look at how we wonder about Vester, for all we know she may be buried in a mudslide somewhere.  Even with people I know in person, I always assume the worse.  On the Internet, all you have to go by is activity, there's no one to follow up on anyone.

He canceled it at the last second. D:

Ugh, been so busy filing out my unemployment and doing more work on my family's design project. If doing work for other clients is to be this disorganized then I guess I shouldn't worry too much about dealing with it in the future. Ugh.

Let's just say, teamwork is a tad lacking, our deadlines are drawing near and there's a bit of a panic going on with everyone else to get their parts done by then; other parts of the project have JUST finished (incidentally, I also finished a piece of the final to near completion; final comp of it still needs work.), and I get to continue to do my part finally, again, to get those looking up to their demands. Let's not forget, I have to keep filling them in on the limits of the designing (IE- bleeds, quality limits, the difference between RGB and CMYK, and so on...). As simple my part of the job may seem at first glance (and how calm I usually am in handling it), I have to make sense of everything I'm being told, and keeping it within the specs and budget; and make sure my computer can keep up with the instructions I keep getting.

To top off my day, my computer is starting to move sluggishly, so it's due for some maintainence. On the bright side, I have a nice collection of DVD+Rs at my disposal, so if I can sort things out, I can do some housekeeping with all the crap on my machine. So in case anyone was curious where I disappeared to, RL snagged me for the day.

Yeah. I got lucky with a few old friend from back around 2001-2002 who I bonded enough with to add on Facebook, and I get a message from them maybe twice a year, sometimes just once. But it's enough to remind me of the good times we had, and I feel pretty good about keeping up with them.

Actually, this discussion prompted me to drop in on the forum I first became a regular on from 2000. A lot of the people I remember are still there, actually. Kind of creepy, in fact. It's been a decade (and many of them were regulars before I showed up, even), and it was never that popular a forum.

A decade? Wow, they're quite the devoted bunch. I wonder what bay12 would look like in a decade. Anyway, yeah, internet vanishing acts are weired. I've had a few online friends that just went poof one day, and I even pulled a disappearing act of my own once. That was kind of dumb considering I was working on a relatively big project with the other people, but whatever.

So, I found out that I'm losing 3/4 of my stores next week. :( I'll be down to something like 8 hours a week.

Beneath my skin in the the heart of my soul the blazing passion to create smolders. I have an idea that I really like, that I get giddy about and I have a ton of ideas for. This is something I would be happy to work with.

But I just can't start. Every time the thought of starting enters my mind all that enthusiasm dies and I'm stopped dead in my tracks. I suppose this is similar to a writers block in the sense that I'm hitting a wall in my head here, but it's transparent and I can see the riches that lie ahead. And yet no matter how much I struggle I'm stuck here on this side of the wall.

I found out I can turn on my sister's computer in Safe Mode.
I found a way I can remove everything from the computer by resetting it to factory default.
In the middle of the process... the computer overheated and turned off...
Now the computer won't even turn on and her cd drive ruins all the CDs that go in and out of it.
So close to being able to use the internet at home... so close... :'(
