Apparently carbon fiber sets off metal detectors though, according to Google. That was my first thought!

Ceramic kitchen knives are ludicrously sharp. I had one specifically for paring and slicing potatoes. Cut them like butter.

Then my mother started using it as a regular knife and of course she chipped it. We had strong words about that. Not that it has changed anything.
I have a set of ceramic knives back home under lock and key when I´m abroad, to make sure they stay intact when I come home for holidays or Xmas or whatever.

would rather buy a new set than sharpen something.
Ceramic knives can very much be sharpened, you just need a diamond sharpening rod.

Banning knives is almost as dumb as banning guns.

UK banned the ownership of handguns in 1996 after the Dunblane massacre. There have been no school shootings since.

Coincidence I suppose.

Self-loathing is the sturdy basis any respectable misanthropy is built on. Circulate sir.

It's also a great basis for many other things, so even if you don't want to be misanthropy, don't give up on your loathing

Some might even consider it a prime foundation for an entire kingdom!

There were also very, very few before. So far as I can tell, Dunblane was only the second school shooting to ever happen in Great Britain. It was also the third and second to last mass shooting to occur.

One should look at how common school shootings in general were before that point as well. I don't think they got really "popular" in america until Columbine happened.

China's had a few mass stabbings actually. None at schools though, from what I can tell.

Depends on whether or not you count kindergartens as "schools".

The main thing to note is that most of the listed incidents only injured people - the perps often fail to inflict even a single death, despite them picking on soft targets like a classroom of 5 year olds, then stabbing 30 of them. (also note that the attacks took place from 2010-2012, and after that the Chinese government ensured at least one security guard would be at all schools and no such attacks have occurred since then. One armed guard is enough to deter any number of crazy knife guys).

For that recent knife incident, in the other link, in China that left 29 dead, it took at least 6 perpetrators to hit that target, possibly more since the article only says they're seeking "other" involved and it's not clear if that means one more or many more. If each of them had been geared up like the Las Vegas shooter they could have taken down hundreds.

It seems Peter has dengue. Fucking tropical diseases. If is not the hemorrhagic kind everything will be alright.

I'm curious as to how a tank would evolve. Would it climb out of the primordial ooze wiggling it's track-nubs, feeding on smaller jeeps before crawling onto the shore having evolved proper treds?
