... for what it's worth, there's probably somewhere nearby you can get a CRT for very cheap, possibly even free. They're certainly not nearly as nice, and a complete bastard weight wise, comparatively, but pretty sure most computers are still compatible with them and they do work, if you need something to tide you over until better financial times. I spent probably... six to twelve-ish months with a CRT monitor plugged into a dead screen laptop a few years back. It was a thing.

idk, sounds like he's talking about a tablet or something. Otherwise he could replace his monitor with a cheap one rather than waste money on repairs.

Mm... fair point. I half keep forgetting the things exist, even when I'm in the process of using one. Kindle in my hands but it still doesn't entirely register other people have stuff like that, too.

Had a pretty shitty night, rolling around on the bed feeling like a hot coal while my brain came up with strange dreams about russia. Woke up sweating cold and only didn't vomit because there was nothing in my stomach. Got better and went to the office anyway, but I dont think I'll be going to my swimming lesson, at least not until I get better.

Just had two big throw-up sessions. Whenever I've laid down this past week, I've had violent coughing fits that end up with me in the bathroom retching until the fit goes away. This is only the second (and third) time I've puked because of it though. I feel fit as a fiddle otherwise, I just got over a headcold and feel great. But the cough won't go away for cough drops, tea, coffee, nothing, and it gets worse whenever I lay down. Back to sleeping in the reclining chair.

Body pls.

I'm sorry to hear that.  ):

Terribly sorry for your loss Helgo, losing generations is a rather painful thing, on more levels than one imho.

Anyways, this motherfucking short story was my sad of the day.

Thanks. Yeah, it is - the fellow was our connection to the old village community, that's gone now. And going down the street to visit when I'm at my parents', and stopping by after church on Easter and Christmas, and him coming over for birthdays and other celebrations... Yeah, it'll take some getting used to.

Then again, apparently towards the end he said a couple things about having done bad shit during the war. And the unit he was with in Russia wasn't exactly... clean. There may be a fair chance we'll be burying a war criminal in the next couple days :p

Eh, we've known about that for ages. Just one more story to tell.

You have my condolences, Helgo, that is very sad. :(
...Um, it'd probably be weird to say "enjoy the funeral", but I hope it goes well and gives him a good send-off.
