I'm curious, what's your reasoning behind that statement?  How does the status of that being observed relate to the "noteworthiness" of the observer?

Random Joe could be jacked by a snerson and nothing would change.

It doesn't necessarily, I'm just saying that I'm like those dull and boring celebrity fanboys who care way too much about pointless crap, except instead of a celebrity it's the universe.

On the one hand, I want to vent about all the problems that are getting me down, but then when I start actually thinking about them I'm reminded what a pathetic excuse for a person I am to be affected by such problems in the first place.

Maybe two or three of them are issues that a stable, well-adjusted person wouldn't be able to either immediately solve or ignore, the rest are just... stupid. Me, though? I don't even know where to start dealing with them all. I'm almost tempted to try one of those online therapy sites that Facebook of all things has been recommending to me (jeez, judgemental much?), but then that has the same problem.

I feel like I'm best off just not thinking about things. Maybe that, really, is the secret to contentment- just go through life never thinking. That would explain some things.
I could probably deal with this crummy situation by just ignoring it, if only there weren't so many obligations shocking me back to reality.

So Fanboy + celebrity culture = pointless

And Fanboy + Universal wonder and beauty = pointless as well?

This is besides the point, viewing oneself as lesser for any sort of external reason is pointless. It's like believing that being more "successful" ( by whatever metric one chooses to use, be it financial, physical, mental, sexual, spiritual, etc. ) makes you more valuable and worthwhile than another human being. It makes no sense to believe that. It just promotes needless suffering to both people who want to prove they're "better" than others, and people who believe that they're "worse" than others, on an inherent, existential level.

This applies not just to you Cinder, everyone who's ever posted in this thread, literally every person in existence, could use a solid dose of unconditional love and appreciation of themselves, regardless of who or what they actually are.

Really? Random Joe has a family. But even if your disappearance wouldn't make anybody sad, you're still important. Other people just don't realize it. :P

Well the universe isn't crap, although it is somewhat pointless. Does that matter though? Just find things that make you happy and do them. (Oftentimes making other people happy is a good way to do that, which is where altruism and giving-a-shit-about-other-people comes from.)

I'm not really sure where your sads are coming from. Are you feeling a lack of emotion? A deadened feeling? If so, I've gone through that too. I'm sorry to say that I only got rid of it through waiting, though, I didn't have any kind of solution.

Unless... bring out the cute kitten photos! Even better, let's give Cinder a cat to snuggle when she's sad. Cats tend to work.

Driving and pain are making me sad today.

I'd been mostly staying on top of my hand pain issue, until I started needing to drive my sister to her physiotherapy appointments. I've had to make a 45 minute round trip 3 times in the past 5 days and apparently this is all it takes to destroy me.

I have my third attempt at the G2 exit test (driving test) coming up in a few weeks. I've been driving for nearly 5 years but failed my first two attempts, most likely due to a lack of recent practice. I can only take the test a few more times before I run out of time and my G2 license expires and it's stressing me the hell out because I can't just put in the practice hours or I end up in pain that lasts for days and makes me unable to do any of the things I enjoy.

I realize I don't have a choice but to keep trying, but it sucks and I'm whining about it. Pain has a way of crushing optimism and making everything feel hopeless while it's around.

*hugs Cinder*

Well you could...Oh wait, university.  Darn...

Now I'm sad that Cinder probably can't get a cat.

@DeKaFu: :(

That sucks.

Have you seen a doctor about that?  It seems pretty ungood.

Plenty of doctors/specialists, with more coming up... Don't really even have a concrete diagnosis after 2+ years, besides "probably some kind of repetitive strain and/or nerve issue". Which means no real concrete "this is how you fix it" solutions either, at this point. Just pain meds and being careful and hoping it goes away someday.

Today's Steve Irwin Day, the 15th of November.

As I kid I used to love watching his show. Rest in Peace, Steve.

May you yell "Crikey!" and jump on Jesus trying to open his mouth in Heaven.

Ah yes, the insatiable lust of corn and rice, clearly two of the most erotic foods.

Honor Irwin by yelling "Crikey!" and try to fistfight a dragon in Skyrim.

Astrophysicists seem to care an awful lot about the universe, and, personally, I think they're great.

If you're thinking that caring about things is pointless, you have two choices:
Either you stop caring, or you stop thinking that it is pointless.

Which one of these will make you happier?

Being happy doesn't make you noteworthy...

You're noteworthy to me. I wouldn't want to be famous, wouldn't want the entire world to know who I am. That just means more death threats and stalkers and paparazzi, none of which are things I want.
