@SalmonGod:That sounds like stalking...

I mean, I'm not a lawyer, but...That sounds blatantly illegal to be doing.

Police have been involved 4 times already.  The first 3 times, the neighbors had called them to complain about petty shit.  Police show up and exasperatedly ask us to work with them on their complaints.

The last time was a couple nights ago when my wife called them, due to the encounter described a couple pages back, where this guy actually made a physical threat against our kid.  Police show up and... literally tell us that they have no suggestions for us, and we have no choice but to tread on their eggshells.

We've tried talking with the neighbors to work shit out.  Traded phone #s and told them if anything bothers them to just contact us directly and let us know.  The very next day, we had another e-mail forwarded to us from the HOA about how the neighbors were furious and demanded something be done about us immediately.

I don't have much hopes for working this out peacefully.

Tell your kids to ignore their house and anyone from it whenever they go outside, no matter what the person says.

We're not allowing them outside by themselves.

...I was going to say that you have some rather, uh, colorful neighbors, but I'm not sugar-coating it. These guys are complete loons.

It's probably worth calling the cops again if they've moved to stalking you like that.

My external rotation ends next week.

I'm happy about travelling back home, seeing my family, and my pets.

I'm saddened about it ending, as well, however. It has been a good time, all things considered. It's a bit irrational, because it's not like I wont be coming back - either as a tourist, or with some sort of contract, depending on which is more convenient. I think that the sadness is because a stage is ending. For good or ill, my residency period draws to a close.

I'm also saddened by the idea of not being able to visit the British Museum by just taking a bus. I really like it, it's one of my favorite places anywhere.  I'll miss out next month's special expo about sunken Egyptian cities, too.  :(

My friends have ruined anyone saying "What I want to know is," because they showed me skooks and I can't stop finishing that with "Where's the caveman?" and having that part of the video play over and over again. Send help.

I'm growing more worried about my kids, because of these neighbors.

They seem to be actively listening for anyone in our family to step outside.  When they hear somebody leave our place, they open their garage door.  When they see that one of the adults of our household is present, they make a show of doing something briefly in their garage, and then go back inside.  I don't like to give in to paranoia, so I've encouraged my wife not to make anything of it.  But apparently her and our roommate just stepped outside for a moment.  They immediately opened their garage, saw who it was, and then closed their garage.

At this point, I don't know what else to make of it, but they're looking for an opportunity to catch our kids outside alone.  My wife also claims to have caught the guy standing outside looking in our windows, and when we have our windows open, he sometimes sits in his truck with the door open doing nothing... apparently just listening.

This is getting seriously creepy, and I'm feeling like they pose a more imminent danger to us now than just the threat of our kids accidentally touching their property.
Can you start recording all this shit on the sly?
Sounds like the sort of thing that would definitely be actionable if you just had some evidence of it. That's messed up.

I appear to have been locked out of my computer. I've changed my password (Windows 10 ftw) and restarted my computer twice, and it's not working. I can't take it in to somewhere to get it fixed, as I have some questionable programs on there, and I can't get it back open because all of the cracking programs I have are on said computer.

Uh...little bit of both. Mostly pirated and totally harmless, if annoying viruses, but I'm pretty sure you could find the remains of some more dangerous viruses on it.

And why exactly cant you bring it somewhere to be fixed?

For that matter, if it's so full of crap, why don't you just format it? Or boot into another OS, backup whatever you need to back up, and then format it?

Unless it's something like child porn or terrorism plans I doubt they'd care, really. You could also make a thread in Life Advice or whatever and see if the folks 'round here can help you.

you should seriously talk to the police or something. that shit ain't good to ignore. you could also go with option 2 brandish a weapon at them next time and threaten them with horrible retribution should they continue. and that's only half a joke.

I might actually boot up Linux and reinstall Windows. I think I have an old computer around here somewhere, and I know I've got a few flashdrives lying around.
